I did. I don't think S I C T spell anything of significance. I'm fairly certain they need to be combined with the extra (alphabet) letters in the (correspondence) letters. Anyone else agree/disagree? I quite agree. I'm terrible with anagrams though, but I'm sure someone on here is great.

I just realized, the S, I, C, and T, are just part of the letters between LS and BB, which spell out the same thing. GAH. D:

What about the marginal letters: E on BB to LS #1, A or N (or both) on LS to BB #2, K (I think) on BB to LS #3, R on LS to BB #4, A on BB to LS #4, A at the bottom of the telegram, are there any others?
I also noticed two misspelled words that might be a part of the anagrammable letters: "Denoument" (missing letter E, on BB to LS #5) and "Independant" (A should be E, on the telegram).
What do you think?
That gives us E A (N) K R A A E E. I don't know. I got nothin'.
My thoughts on BB to LS #5: Beatrice 2 indicates that she saves the lives of the Baud kids "not long after the destruction of the Hotel Denoument [sic]." Perhaps this occurs in The End.
My thoughts on the telegram: The pregnancy referred to is Violet. LS hopes that Beatrice (#1?) will have a girl "who will someday spend a few happy hours alone with someone she loves, up in the mountains where people of imagination and integrity can still gather, just as we did, so long ago." If that's not a reference to TSS and Quigley, I'll eat my hat.
EDIT: Well, heck. If we add SITC from the four figures, leave off the first marginal E, and I missed a B somewhere, we get "Beatrice Sank" again.

If you simply re-arrange the letters of the alphabet on the end cards in the book, you get 'Ask Beatrice', unless I missed a letter.

What end cards?

What do you mean by the end cards in the book?
DearDairy, I don't think the spelling mistakes are part of the anagrams, although I noticed them too. The punch-out letters and the extra letters and photo letters are both in the same order.
E E N S I K R A C T A B
That leads me to think that we shouldn't include the misspellings.

"Toot, toot" I just wanted to toot my own horn. It was I who started the thread about there being two Beatrices. After I met Mr. Handler and he said "Just because it's one name, doesn't necessarily mean it's one person."

Another observation.. we know that a baticeer means "a person who trains bats" (my silence knot, last page) is nto a real word, but is an anagram of Beatrice. I've been trying, and trying to see if the word, a bral(e?)-man, "a man who lives in the hills" (BB to LS #3) is an anagram of someone.

I don't see anything significant. Besides baticeer isn't a real word, so that was a clue to the anagram. Brae is a real word, so maybe it doesn't mean anything.

Yay, got a copy today.
It came with a free sample CD of three songs from the Tragic Treasury.
Haven't had time to read it yet.
Probably won't until the weekend.
Oh well.

Hey! I didn't see any sample CDs at the bookstore! I don't suppose any of the songs are the new ones, though?
If you just read the letters and don't worry about all the clues, anagrams, etc. it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to read through.

One of them was Scream and Run Away, though. And yeah, it's short, but I need to write a book review of Candide for Friday and I still have sixty pages of that to read. So that'll be taking up my spare time.

After I met Mr. Handler and he said "Just because it's one name, doesn't necessarily mean it's one person." *le hiss* I started a thread about there being two Beatrices a long, long time ago. I mean, yay, good observation. As for the misspelled words, I don't think they mean anything. A lot of little things in TBL make it seem really authentic (the file folders, the folded up cards with notes in them, etc.), and a ten-year-old misspelling a few rather difficult words for someone that age adds to the authenticity. Edit: Oh, and did anyone else absolutely adore Lemony's answer to question nine?
