I dispise profanity, that is why I use "fudge" in stead of F***. See, I don't get that. You mean the same thing as if you were saying the F word...so how can you despise profanity, when all you're doing is using a more socially acceptable word to mean the exact same thing? Anyway, I am against excessive swearing or swearing just for the sake of swearing; however, most of the time I don't care if someone uses a curse word or two.

I don't mind hearing mild profanity. Other people may not like mild words such as "crap", hell, "sucks", etc. So my advice is to keep away from using any word that would mean the same thing as a strong profane word might. Strong curse words are banned, so I have no idea why that would be brought up. (unless it helps with proving your point)

I don't usually swear, but I think that swearing should only used when necessary. You know, when somebody makes someone very, very angry, and they deserve to be sworn at.

I swear like a sailor, but if you ever see me swearing on here, it'll usually be something like:
I [really] hate you.
I find putting other words in brackets for what you mean conveys the same message with less offense.
As a general rule for actual swearing, I'd say most mods are fine with words like damn and hell, although they should not be used in excess. The reasoning behind this isn't because we're strict nazis, it's for your benefit; if the forum stays clean, we get a shot at things like being featured on the official Lemony Snicket website and if we don't, we could lose the board as swearing is against Proboards policy.
In other sections (such as CC) where creative liberty is sometimes neccessary, mods will oftentimes be more lax with swearing rules, although it's still a bad idea to swear too excessively.

I once remember Trag saying he didn't like swearing but it was okay, but that was awhile ago. You can swear if you're quoting from somewhere that swears but it's generally not accepted. Oh personally, I don't understand why it's a problem. I'm against censorship. Well, we might have young guests or member come on here and we don't want them to see profanity. Plus it's just kind of dirty, and I kind of can't understand a sentence with tons of cussing in it. Well, I'm young. I'm probably one of the youngest people on here, and I swear--let's just say a lot, and all these people here protesting against cursing--I'm willing to bet most to all of them are older than me. Furthermore, this is an old thread. When I posted this, I was two years younger. So it depends on what you believe less than age, at least in my opinion. Some "profane" language actually mean other things, B***h is a term for a female dog, A** is a male donkey, C**k is a male rooster. Gay can also mean happy. Gay's a curse?

Yeah, I think a better example would have been that f*g can be an old ciggarette butt. How young? There's people on here who are twelve.

Like....you?
I think swearing is a diry habit for pirates and hobos but to be fair, everyone's a little profane sometimes. It doesn't mean we go around spewing foul lines. Profane words might be uncouth, but we all laugh at times cause they highlight a mood. Don't take them as moral attacks. Everyone makes statements, with one or two f's or s's.
