Another year has come and gone, and it’s time to look back and reflect on that year and the things that have happened here at 667 Dark Avenue. There was much excitement and anticipation for The End. But with The End, came many changes at 667. We saw a decline in activity once the series ended. We also saw a change in power as Tragedy handed over control of the board to All Due Respect. With that change came turmoil and a sense of unrest.
Now, as we look forward to 2007, I think it is time to make amends for some injustices that members have noted and felt helpless to change. I am speaking about the actions of our new administrator, All Due Respect. There have been many members hurt by her words and actions, but those offenses were left unpunished. Even though the moderators were in general agreement that the administrator should be able to receive warnings and/or strikes, none had the courage to do so.
Today, that will change.
First, let’s make note of the Administrative Decrees of 667 Dark Avenue, specifically Decree #2:
Any member who displays unwarranted rudeness, rule breaking, ignorance of warnings, racism, sexism, profanity, or disables a group of people from enjoying 667 will be given strikes and/or banned. This is in accordance with 667 Dark Avenue Administrative Decree #2.
And now, the evidence:
In the “Announcement” thread that ADR started on October 15, Sora had complained about the fairness of ADR’s actions, so she called him a whiner. He asked her not to call him a whiner and Songbird also stood up for him, telling ADR she was rude to call Sora a whiner. ADR did not heed Songbird’s warning about rudeness and then called both Sora and Songbird whiners.
For unwarranted rudeness, I am giving ADR a strike.
A thread entitled “Tragedy” was started on October 21 by JamesQuagmire, asking questions about how ADR came to power. Not everyone followed the secret board saga and some people were just looking for answers about it. ADR answered with comments like “Well duh!” and “Where have you been?” Gigi warned her not to be insulting, to which ADR replied “I think its safe to say that any truely (sic) dedicated staff member would have been interested!” (This implied that Gigi was not a truely (sic) dedicated staff member.)
When questions still went unanswered, ADR posted with “I don't owe anyone anything okay I explained in Snicket's topic that I guessed the password was The Little Snicket Lad, and then I became administrator two days later. Why dont (sic) you read why (sic) I say for a change! What more is there to tell? Its all I know! Geez!”
For continued, unwarranted rudeness, I am giving ADR another strike.
In the “WTFHAX” thread from November 13, ADR was rude again and eyes were rolling, but she also set a new precedent. She decided that sarcasm would now warrant a warning. After a sarcastic post from Sora, she posted “I appreciate the sarcasm - and so I will reward it with an official Dark Avenue warning”.
Others in the thread were surprised that sarcasm would get a warning. It was also ironic since ADR frequently uses sarcasm herself. Only two short days later, after Gigi speculated on what would happen if someone cracked the admin password in the “ADR’s Rule” thread, ADR posted “Well thats just exactly what I need isnt it? What a great show of support from one of the moderator staff members. Way to show that you value keeping your job Gigi!”
For that display of sarcasm, I am giving ADR a warning.
Of course, this is just a small sample of things All Due Respect has done recently. But these strikes were given for specific instances when ADR chose to ignore the warnings of moderators who pointed out her rude behavior. Everyone at 667 Dark Avenue is expected to follow the rules. That also includes the Administrator, who should set the ultimate good example for everyone else here.
With the New Year, there is a chance to start over fresh, turn over a new leaf, make a new first impression. ADR, you’ve been given that chance by only getting two strikes.
