Sorry I didn't post earlier! The picture is fabulous!
Only criticism I can give is (I know, I know) the hands. The one around her waist (I'm guessing those are her fingers) looks rather strange, like it's out of proportion or something...
But I love the dress, the colors, even the hairstyle (don't change it) The braid is done beautifully, it gives an earthy feel to the picture, like she's an actual human being and not some dream-like dragonfly.
Keep it up!

Yeah, that hand IS pretty claw-like and weird. I was trying to do the Brett Helquist type fingers (you know... the really long, elegant ones?) but it just came out sorta gimpy. *shakes fist at hands*

I was going to comment on that hand too. I always pictured her looking kind of dark and tragic. Actually, as a picture of my grandma from the 30s. I like this too though, she seems more alive, the type of person someone can fall in love with. But distant at the same time. I looked at the Violet on the other page, which I actually like better than Brett Helquist's. She's not a caricature there.

Tee-hee... he could be, but wasn't intended to be. Plus, Poe couldn't have as cool a moustache as THAT, I mean... he's Poe!

Okay, uploading some new pictures in this thread because... I don't want to be a space hog and start a new one: www.geocities.com/negativenine_9/art/hooky.htmlThe hook handed man... I hope you can tell that ;D Sort of a shading BH-style experiment. His face is kinda crappilly shaded, I know, and there are some scanner smudging problems, but... yeah. www.geocities.com/negativenine_9/art/lucaflo.html2)Uh... this isn't that great, I'm just posting it because Mamba inspired me to do couple-drawings, so I did Lucafont and Flo (I don't know why, it just seemed right), and am posting it as... a tribute to her? His jaw is very gimpy, as are his arms, and... yeah, I don't really like it. But... it's here anyway. Comments are good! And, I'm running out of ASoUE drawing ideas, so... suggestions are welcome!

The Quagmires in their cage. Or a lone person walking away from a burnt house. Or Sir. Or the Deus ex Machina. Or all of them! Go nuts.
