As my school year draws to a close, I reflect back on all the interesting things read in my literature class. We read the following works, or excerpts thereof:
The Epic of Gilgamesh The Bible(the creation story and Noah's flood) The Iliad Oedipus The King(rather disturbing Greek play) The Inferno(my favorite) Julius Caesar(This was fun because we got to read aloud the parts of different characters. I was the soothsayer who says "Beware the Ides of March!")
What have you been forced to read in you lit class, and have you enjoyed it?

*thinks hard*
Cry, The Beloved Country Black Boy Their Eyes Were Watching God Snow Falling on Cedars A Midsummer Night's Dream Romeo and Juliet A Tale of Two Cities
I know I'm forgetting at least one...
Sounds like you read some good books, Tocuna... does your lit class have a mythology/epic focus?

*thinks hard* Sounds like you read some good books, Tocuna... does your lit class have a mythology/epic focus? We certainly seem to like epic stories; those I listed were the ones I remember and like best. Let's see...we also read part of the Aeneid, a great epic tale that involves the fall of Troy and the travels of the hero Aeneas. I like epic poetry.

Wow. We didn't read many books, but we read lots of poetry and short stories. As for novels? To Kill A Mockingbird They Cage The Animals at Night Wow. Nice list there. I don't want to type out the list of all the short stories and poems and things, so those are pretty much the books we read.

omg we read so much poetry and we had to analyze it and break it down. Why do we have to analyze poetry? Maybe it wasn't meant to be analyzed, maybe it doesn't have any "hidden meanings." Jeez! Teachers ruin everything. I may be really looking forward ot reading a book and hten a teacher will make it all serious and analytical and "find the simile!" and then they rush you so you don't get anything out of reading it.

um.... The Shakespeare Stealer What? You had to read the Shakespeare Stealer? No way! i loved that book! The school system around here stinks! We read Romeo and Juliet(required reading in my state), Antigone(i hated this one), Cold Sassy Tree(this one was just plain weird), and The Princess bride(the only one that had good stuff in it)

Ah I don't know if I'll be able to remember everything we read..
The Epic of Gilgamesh Oepidus The Bible(Noah's flood, I only remembered these first three because its the same as Tocuna's.) Hamlet Silas Marner Night Pyramus and Thisbe The Bet The Night Face Up The War How Much Land Does a Man Need?
Alright that's all I can remember. We read Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night's Dream, The Odessy, and The Illaid last year.
