I’m starting a new series. I've never tried writing anything 667 related, and I thought it was a good time to try. I don't think what I'm writing is ever going to match up with what Tyler's doing with that.... 667 Mystery thing, but I'm giving it my best shot
Oh, sorry for the corny name, by the way. Christmas Craze... Hahahaha.
Each chapter takes place at my house over the Christmas break, when you all come to visit, courtesy of my family’s mileage with United Airlines. I haven’t really worked it out yet, but I figure it spans between December 19 and December 27, more or less. If I feel inclined to I might extend it past New Years.
Here’s the introduction. Noting special, just sort of… setting you up for what’s to come. I tried to include as many people as I could. Some I did not choose to include. If I forgot you, go ahead and tell me, and I will surely add you in somewhere. After all, this will be a long running series, and everyone needs to be established in the first part. Even if I don’t know you that well, please tell me if you’d like to be included. I’ll make sure to put you in somewhere.
Sorry if I copied ideas from the stories of other people. I’m just trying to sum up the 667ness. You know what I mean? Anyway, I’ve done my best so far. If I like the way things turn out, I’ll keep adding installments. The first one is already 98% done. Sorry, I’m not much of a dialogue writer… So that probably stinks in the story. Actually, there isn’t much dialogue in the prologue at all. You can judge me in later chapters.
I had added pictures of my house to give better visuals, and to save me from lengthy descriptions… Plus I think it adds a bit of a realistic touch. I was only able to get mostly outside shots. My parents didn't want me taking pictures of bedrooms and kitchens and stuff for the sake of privacy, I guess. Oh, and I apologize for the terrible quality. I’m using a really horrible $50 digital camera piece of junk… And it’s just bad. Sorry. You still get the general idea of the places in my house I’m mentioning.
Prologue: Setting the Scene
For nearly two months the complex travels plans had been made, remade, rethought and finally set. Phone calls had circulated endlessly, from Tragedy’s house, to Australia, to Maine, to the U.K., to Canada, to Oklahoma, New York, Texas, New Jersey and many places besides. Reservations were in place, suitcases were being packed, and everyone had been sent their tickets. The T family did not have enough money for all of their tickets… Well they did, actually, but they were actually planning on sending their children to college, and they also planned on retiring before they turned 60. ANYWAY.
Mr. T did, however, have enough mileage to cover them all. He had amassed an inordinate sum of miles thanks to his job, which demanded much travelling. The only drawback was that every member had to fly on the crappy economy/coach class. They all managed to reach their destination on the same day. In fact, many ended up on the same flight, especially the British 667ers. Anyway, what mattered what was that they would be spending the holidays together- not online, but in person.
And so it was that the members spent their early weeks of December anticipating their Christmas reunion, and their first meetings in person. No one thought it would ever actually happen. Many had fantasized (suggestive word there just for you, Charlotte) about it, and some had even written stories about it, but most never actually believe they would ever meet. You and I know that some things in life are inevitable. It came to pass that everyone arrived safe and sound on the 19th of December, 2004.
The early arrivals had to wait as long as 4 hours for the late comers to arrive at the bustlingairport. Luckily, the extended wait wasn’t so awful since there was so much to talk about with the members who had also arrived. Sam was the first to land, at 1:30 local time. He and had been on a plane together with the other Aussie members. Travel agents hired by Tragedy’s family had tried as hard as possible to get the flights to have as close arrival times as possible, but it wasn’t a perfect setup. The Canadians arrived last at 4:20, including Colton and Souffle.
After tedious flights of varying length, the members of 667 arrived at the airport and said their awkward greetings (“G’day!” - Sam). Some members had never shown picture of themselves, and had to walk around with dorky nametags, feeling like big losers. Others were perfectly recognizable, like Jessica/swans, who was cute, but ridiculously midget-sized. George/Dupin did the wild roll call at 4:25, a task set to him by Tragedy. When they were sure every member was present, they headed outside the airport.
An elegant, crimson charter bus picked them up and drove them off to Tragedy’s house at 4:30 P..M. sharp. On the ride, members warmed up to each other a bit and found that they could connect with each other just as well as they could on 667 Dark Avenue. Their conversations were numerous and varied, and it’s pointless to go into them until perhaps the coming chapters, in which a conversation might be instrumental to the plot. The loud babble which filled the bus gave their short, buck-toothed driver a headache. Some of the members had annoyingly high pitched voices, especially the younger girls. Many were surprised by the warm weather: some had never had a Christmas during which the temperature did not drop below 40 degrees. Down there, it was about 65 degrees in the middle of December. Luckily, Tragedy had warned them to pack for warm weather, since it only ever got chilly at night.
The bus finally slowed and they waited as the gates opened. They got out, unloaded their luggage and walked expectantly up the long, narrow driveway.
They were greeted courteously at the end of the driveway by the [url=http://img47.photobucket.com/albums/v144/TragedyThomas34/workers.jpg
]leader houseworkers[/url]
(Edna, the head housekeeper, Francisco, the primary driver, and Manuel, the old groundskeeper) and their host, Tragedy/Tragedy. Tragedy was polite, friendly, sophisticated, well-dressed (he was wearing a sweater vest in honor of the arrival of swans, his accalimed BFF), and an all around good guy. He welcomed them graciously, smiling mysteriously, shaking their hands and clarifying who was who. He explained that the rest of his family had gone off to Europe, to visit an aunt in Vienna. Only the house staff and himself were left in the house.
Everyone admired the house. This is a picture of the left wing of the house. Here is the middle section. The grounds were expansive, the house was beautiful, spacious and well-layed out, and it was filled with interesting artwork, objects, and more from distant lands where the T family had travelled to.
