I have been thinking of a new trilogy
here are some of my ideas
14 year old boy Family member dies on major treasure hunting expedition. There are 7 treasures- 1 for each continent. Each treasure contains and stands for an element. when each element is combined, it forms the ultimate force. This force could decide the rise and fall between Good and Evil.
Example- Africa-Egypt-treasure found in a heavily guarded ancient tomb.
2nd example- South America-Amazon-treasure found in ancient tribal temple deep in the rainforest.

[geek] Actually, there can be 6--Europe and Asia are sometimes considered one continent called Eurasia[/geek]
[furthur geek] And if you go back in time, you would only have one continent, Pangea, but according to the theory of continetal drift, it broke away and drifted to the way it is today, and they are still moving.[/furthur geek]
[basic mathematician] Anyway, Dupin, you said there are five continents and you listed six. You excluded Antarctica. [/basic mathemetician]
Anyway, I think that's a great idea. It would be so cool, I think, but what I'd think you should do is define and bring out the diversities of each continent, what makes them them, y'know?

I did a science fair project on pangea when I was in 2nd grade and the 7th grade science teacher borrowed it for a lesson.
Why would it be a trilogy?

Sound interesting. You'd need seven elements.
Do you mean elements like Earth wind fire water or like Carbon, Iron, Zinc etc.?

Sounds very interesting! Or, perhaps, instead of elements, there's a basic anti-sin, one for each of the seven deadly sins? Just a suggestion.

Or, maybe each can represent either the sin or it's opposite, and which comes out depends on who has it... so, if someone evil gathers all 7, then the rise of Evil comes about... likewise, if someone good/pure gathers all 7, then the ultimate Good is revealed. For just elements though... I'm not sure how one could do seven... there's one system that lists four (earth, wind, fire, water), and a Chinese system that lists five (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), but none that's seven in itself. Unless you want to cut down the number of continents (i.e. make Europe and Asia just Eurasia, and have none located in Antarctica, since there's almost no life there anyways).

In some fantasy cartoons and stories there are systems of seven or eight elements. How about fire, water, wind, earth, ice, thunder, and wood? I could probably find some way to correspond those to continents or sins, because I do this sort of thing a lot.

Just a note: I forgot in which musical, but there is a song listing the seven deadly virtues.
[edit] I found the lyrics to the song (Google is god): Artist: Roddy McDowall Lyrics Song: Seven Deadly Virtues Lyrics MORDRED The seven deadly virtues, those ghastly little traps Oh no, my liege, they were not meant for me Those seven deadly virtues were made for other chaps Who love a life of failure and ennui Take courage-now there's a sport An invitation to the state of rigor mort And purity-a noble yen And very restful every now and then I find humility means to be hurt It's not the earth the meek inherit, it's the dirt Honesty is fatal, it should be taboo Diligence-a fate I would hate If charity means giving, I give it to you And fidelity is only for your mate You'll never find a virtue unstatusing my quo or making my Beelzebubble burst Let others take the high road, I will take the low I cannot wait to rush in where angels fear to go With all those seven deadly virtues free and happy little me has not been cursed
I'm not sure if that was what you were looking for, but it might help...[/edit]

There's always the cliched evil archnemisis of the boy's father, trying to collect them to rule the world.
