Ok I know right were to go! *charges into Appendice A* *comes back 30 seconds later* *clears throat* Ahem, on page 318 of the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Appendice A is states that Aragorn the Second son of Arathorn the Second is the Son of Arador. So the answer is Arador.

What does "Mordor" mean when translated?

|
|
Post by Fife on Jun 18, 2003 18:40:55 GMT -5
well, i think it would be translated as 'the dark land' or 'the black land' mor meaning 'black' as in moria and dor meaning 'land' as in gondor. well that was me showing off. i'll stop now.

to imagine i just finished re-reading the series and have no idea where it is..... and I noticed another one of my mistakes: I said it was in the Two Towers when Sam was looking for Frodo in Cirith Ungol. But its in Return of the King. I think I'm getting old. I just scanned RotK, book 6 and it wasn't in there. So that leaves FotR.

I don't know if this is right or not (their could be more than one Gil Galad song). Its from FotR, A knife in the dark,
But long ago he rode away, and where he dwelleth none can say; for into darkness fell his star, in Mordor where the shawdows are.

Wow, I sure have missed a lot! Um, ok, I can't really answer any of the background crap bacause I haven't read The Silmarillion or the Appendicies yet, sadly. But if you ask anything about the movies I'll know in a split second! Pre-production, techniques, you name it!
