Maybe. I was reading this Laurence Yep book some time ago and it said that your body has 2 souls. That when you sleep, one of your souls leaves the body and wanders aroung and whatever it sees is your dream. I think it is Chinese tale or something.

The only time I don't enjoy my material possessions is if it crosses my mind that I don't use a lot of them. Then it gets me into a funk.
Also, I think the first post of this thread sounded quite Engrish-ey. It was very appealing for some reason...guess I'm weird like that.

Yeah, you know, Engrish. Like when something's translated wrong, or it's translated in a weird way, usually from Japanese to English (hence the "Engrish" part because there is no difference between the L and R sound in Japanese, so when a JPN person speaks English, they'll often use R sounds when they should use L sounds).

Engrish is the best thing that ever happened. Well... maybe not.
Why does our coffee taste so good when you're naked with your family?
Anyway, Engrish aside... Materialism bugs me. I mean, I get really materialistic sometimes, especially when I obsess, but I'm NOT made of money so I do save up for and buy the things I really want/need rather than the things that seem cool at the time (unlike a certain friend of mine who spend 40 dollars on a book of personality quizzes... guh). I really wish we were a good communist nation and everyone could just share the wealth, but that's not happening anytime soon, so for the moment it seems like no one can get anywhere without money or possessions or piles upon piles of junk! *rolls in cake* This really gets to me sometimes because I think everyone's priority should be to pursue their passions, but it seldom works out as well as it should because people don't have enough money and that's what our wolrd revolves around... Makes me cry.

I am very materialistic... I love keeping useless crap, that the only excuse I have for keeping them is "I like it" (which in my opinion is an excellent excuse). I think this way, and I know it may sound a little strange but it makes sense to me, "this life" is a material life, we don't know what's next once we're dead. Maybe, "next life" isn't material at all, so I wan to enjoy material things while I am able to. Was that clear??

I can be materialistic, but not generally. Usually I won't buy something unless (a) I get it at a good price, (b) I won't be able to get it anywhere else, or (c) it's part of a collection I have (i.e. a manga series).
A good example of (b) is a Cardcaptor Sakura folder I got, which is very pretty and has Engrish (there, I've connected the topics). I don't want to run and get the binder to copy it exactly, but I remember that one line of it is "Sakura is an elementaly school student..." It makes me laugh.

What point is there for living? I'm not trying to sound suicidal, but really? It seems like during your whole adolescence, you're getting ready (for what?) and then after college or whenever, you get married and have afamily and then, the rest of your life(until you're old) you work toward something, nothing. Durf.

Durf. Cheer up, boy. You live for living, really. That's my philosophy. I mean, sure there's the entire "but we're going to grow old and die anyway" factor, but come on, there's beautiful spring days and art and music and kittens and pudding to live for. And I guess love too, but you know, that's not too reliable nowadays. Sure there's a lot of salsa you have to take in life, but come on. Life is something that you shouldn't take for granted. It's amazing how many people don't realize just how many wonderful days they've had in their life; they concentrate on all the horrible things that have happened to them. Hell, I've gotten some salsa in my life--my family has a history of drinking problems, smoking problems, drug abuse, mental disorders, suicide attempts, embezzling, and much much more--but you'll never see me try to kill myself or say that life isn't worth living for those reasons. You know, I view it all with a sort of bemusement now, pretty much. I'll tell people stories about them, and they don't sting anymore. You adapt, you know? You change, and you move on. In short: don't worry, be happy.

I love the quote, don't worry, be happy! I am a girl.
So, you can't really be happy unless before you have been unhappy, right?

I love the quote, don't worry, be happy! I am a girl. Pardons, will remember in the future. Can't believe I didn't notice the little pink mark under your name Haha, of course. I'm not saying "don't be unhappy," since it's hard to help not being unhappy sometimes (like if someone or something dies), I'm just saying not to dwell on it longer than you need to, and don't let the unhappy times consume your entire life and, to you, nullify any possible reason to live.
