After yesterday's episode, I suddenly dare hope that series 9 will surpass series 8, which in my opinion was entertaining enough, but didn't have anything that came near the good Eccleston, Tennant and Smith episodes. I was hoping we hadn't seen Capaldi's doctor from his best yet, and I'm beginning to think we haven't. So we have Davros and the Daleks, the Master and UNIT on board already, with short cameos at the Maldovarium, the Shadow Proclamation and the sisterhood of I-think-it-was-called-Karn-wasn't-it? Someone's certainly gone all in, and I honestly think it works. The whole 'the Doctor's death has been prophesied' thing has been used a bit too often in recent times, though, I think (the Tennant specials, Series 6 and series 7 seem to me to do pretty much the same thing). I enjoyed the 'young Davros' plot twist at the beginning; I didn't see it coming, and the dilemma it puts him in is interesting. Other things I look forward to seeing in this series: I'm excited to Capaldi realising where he saw his face before (and slightly hoping that this will establish some details about the universe that'd justify more cameos from previous Doctors). I've heard the first half of the two-part finale is going to have Capaldi as the only actor, and if that even works, it'll probably be great. Also, the guest cast for the season looks great, and a lot of the episodes seem to be picking up previous plot threads (I was a bit tired with the return of the Zygons until I heard they were there as a specific, and to my mind seemingly justified, follow-up).

Eccleston fanboy here, but I'm liking the direction Peter Capaldi is taking it. And that cliffhanger... So if one gets exterminated, usually one turns blue, gets a flash of skeleton and one's corpse hits the floor. But Clara and Missy both vanished after being shot, so possibly we'll get some answer to how Missy survived her Cyberman zapping when it's revealed how still alive she is now. And she said Clara's vortex manipulator is matched to Missy's so that probably saves Clara the same way?
Much more interesting is whether Peter Capaldi will zap young Davros. (Although surely Davros is just a common Kaled name? If you were time travelling back to early 20th century Germany and you were asked to help a little boy named Adolf out of a bear trap, you'd probably clarify his surname was 'Hitler' before you started freaking out about your temporal dilemma... Surely he has to make sure it's THE Davros.)

I didn't spot him but I think we'll come back to UNIT later in the series when we hopefully get an answer as to whether it was the human or Zygon Osgood who Missy dropped out of a plane...

it might not be him, but i'm remembering it just in case it is and it become relevant later
also just found out an upcoming episode has a monster voiced by peter serafinowicz for it's normal voice and corey taylor from slipknot for it's horrible screams. i'm already freaking on board for this monster whatever it is.

My two cents: mostly underwhelmed by the first two eps. I am actually liking missy though, unlike last season. And I am tired of Clara and will not be sad to se her go. also just found out an upcoming episode has a monster voiced by peter serafinowicz for it's normal voice and corey taylor from slipknot for it's horrible screams. i'm already freaking on board for this monster whatever it is. holy salsa.

AHA but what if I've always found her cuteness unpleasant, being a cynical grump. why thank you for the compliment mate.

oh I see, you thought I meant 'don't'. no I really do, and that's saying something given my high standards for boots.
you may not like her boots, but don't lump me in with you.
