I am in favor of hugs. For a long time I wasn't just because I'm super sensitive to touch but I've worked on handling it and now I hug everybody. I love hugs. The only thing I can't take is the hug-and-hold, it's a sensory overload. My immediate family don't hug each other, it seems odd to since we see each other all the time, but for all other people there is always the hug hello and goodbye. And then there's my Zio Louie, he hugs you whenever you're in arms reach, he's quite the affectionate Italian.

Side question: Does anyone else do the hug + kiss? It's pretty normal in the Latin cultures, and with mother-figure black ladies. I always wondered how that comes across to other people.

I agree. Hugs can be fun. Hugs can be awkies. Hugs with family, or friends-almost-family are totally fine. Hugs with people I don't like it's like "No Sir, I don't like it". Especially drunk adults. God, scary times.
