I've been active on Tumblr for a few months now; there is indeed a strong community of Snicket fans on this platform and I believe some of you volunteers are already on it. I'm using a Tumblr blog as a template for a website entirely dedicated to theories and analyses on Snicket's works. I name it... The above link will guide you to the website's summary, which contains links to the theories and anlyses I've already written, such as: - Why was Kit imprisoned on the Thistle of the Valley?
- Who was Beatrice’s co-star?
- Is Quigley Quagmire a liar?
Please note that you can contribute to the blog through comments even if you don't have a Tumblr account. Just click "Ask the Sleuth" on top of the page and you will be able to ask questions on an anonymous basis. Have fun!

Wow, this looks really interesting! It will take a while to read, but I look forward to it.

Thank you, Hermes! I'm branding myself because not everyone here has access to Tumblr. I've been thinking some of my articles might fit into the "Conflicting Conjectures" section, but I'm not sure.

Funny thing, I've had this site bookmarked on my computer for a long time without knowing it was made by somebody on here! :)

Ah, I've been flitting in and out of your account (mostly because I don't have a Tumblr yet); I've wondered when I saw your mention of 667 if you'd ever mention the Sleuth on here. Even when I don't fully agree with your conclusions, I appreciate how much research you put into them; you're wonderfully thorough!!!

(mostly because I don't have a Tumblr yet) I don't have a tumblr either, but I have about 8 Tumblr sites bookmarked on my computer. :'D

Yes, the acceptability of my theories varies widely: - Some of them are only non-canonical because Handler likes to keep the books vague and doesn't confirm anything whatsoever,
- Some of them are technically possible but implausible,
- Some of them are utter crackpot,
- Some of them border on fanfic/headcanon material.
But if I restricted myself to only one of these categories, the blog would be almost empty.

Oh I have no objection to the variety! Everyone has a different takeaway from a book, and part of the fun of fandom is seeing what people think and whether it melds with your takeaway. Though I'm relieved to know you consider some crackpot.

Yeah, at this point the theories I write are essentially writing challenges. I take some wild idea and try to make it sound as plausible as I can by quoting the canonical text. It shouldn't be taken at face value (a hypothesis is still just a hypothesis) and is first and foremost meant as pure, harmless fun for fellow Snicket fans.

You may want to consider adding a crackpot tag (or somethinng less on the nose to preserve the fun) to particularly wild theories, just in case people do take them seriously! There are way too many people earnestly holding to implausible ideas online.

That would be going a tad too far, I think. Everything I post on the blog is clearly presented as purely theoretical... It's a sad day when you have to hold yourself accountable for other people's lack of critical thought.

Yes, that is a wonderful thought; neither Ellington nor Theodora seem likely to be the one Widdershins was describing but I have to say that spotting the connection between those two passages was very clever. That's the perfect kind of far-fetched theory, one that's neither addressed nor made impossible by the canon, but would be so wonderfully pleasing if it was true.
