I certainly don't want two seasons in the same year. I've waited 13 years for this, make it last and make it worthy. As long as they do it good and the kids don't have beard and tits in the last season, I'm okay with waiting until 2020. Girls start developing breast by around 10 or 11 - so it wouldn't be abnormal if Violet had lady lumps by the third season. Just saying.

I know it's super fun to believe, but I can basically promise there's no way we're getting both seasons in the same year. It would make far more sense from a marketing perspective to drag it out over the course of a pair of years. As deeply as I don't want that to be true. The only options I could see are very early 2018 for Season Two then very late 2018 for season 3. Early 2018 and late 2018 would be fine, I just don't see them waiting an entire year, it would be ridiculous for a TV show to release something a year after it was filmed. If this were a movie franchise then I could understand a longer wait, but as we've seen with some recent book to movie adaptations waiting too long can hurt the franchise. If they're filming seasons back to back, which it appears that they are, there's not a whole lot of reason to sit on it for an entire year after filming. Keep in mind Netflix has done two seasons in a year before. ASOUE is kind of a special case too, there's no real ending for season two, it's a cliffhanger with no resolution, so it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine them not wanting to wait an entire year to capitalize on that momentum. There's a franchise fatigue going on in the entertainment industry, stretching the series out may not be the best move.

I was actually curious if they had released two seasons in a year before--what show? If there's a precedent, then forget me. I am 1000% in for them releasing two in a year.

actually if they had the actors say there lines super fast and high pitch then slow down the footage they could be done with filming much quicker but most modern studios arnt smarter enough to do that

I actually didn't watch them so I'm just assuming. So it's probably safer to say ASOUE is better compared to the production of Stranger Things season 2 which is spaced out by a year and a couple months.

actully they use that method for some sporting events like football, croquet, and connec four. but not always because the audience has a hard time keepin up.

I wasn't comparing the production of ASOUE to Fuller House at all, my point was that Netflix has shown in the past that they're willing to put two seasons out in one year. Given that ASOUE is filming seasons back to back it is indeed possible they could release in the same year. Because of the first season we already have a basic estimation as to how long it takes to film a single book and what type of post production time it takes to finish it. So looking at that information we can discern that by the time season 3 wraps filming, season 2 post production should be nearly done. So, in theory, season 2 could be released in spring 2018 and season 3 in fall 2018.

So, so excited that season 2 is officially confirmed! And that filming begins next month! This is even more exciting than last time because it's all new material... and some of my favorite in the entire series. (Hello, The Ersatz Elevator!) Do you think we'll get any advance casting news? Or will they keep it mum like last time and announce closer to the release?

Do you think we'll get any advance casting news? Or will they keep it mum like last time and announce closer to the release? I'm guessing they'll be more open this time around. For season 1 I think the secrecy had to do with keeping all of it a surprise, but now that we know the tone, what all the main players look and act like and the basic aesthetic of the visuals there's not much reason to maintain that level of secrecy going forward. For the second season of Stranger Things they've been a lot more open, they released a trailer 8 months before release as well as numerous photos and interviews. Granted ASOUE won't ever get a trailer that early due to the large amount of post production, but I think it's likely we'll see more photos and interviews this time around. This is a hit show after all, so Netflix will likely try to keep it in the public consciousness between seasons. I think we'll see Esme's casting soon. Esme's role in the season will be very large, so it would make sense if she were added to the main cast (those few that appear in the main title credits) rather than being just a recurring player (like the troupe members). Too, they'll probably announce some of the guest stars as they did with season 1, though rather sparingly.

Neither of those links work for me. Maybe the decision turned out to be too vastly frightening at this point in proceedings?
