I would prefer that you would do every single easter egg, reference, allegory, foreshadowing, lyric, VFD acronym and phrases, and other stuff. It would be nice to find every single thing in one catalog, just like the underwater Hotel Denouement. thats a lot to ask of one person. maybe if we put this in a collaborative document (like google drive or something) everyone could contribute references that they notice

Hm, yes, I remember that, but I guess I count LSUA as part of ASoUE, so I didn't include it. But thanks for mentioning it to anyone interested. Though The Vile Village is up there ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/253263/images/vHm0CvggshBxsJbbcONU.gif) Ah, you're right, but I only threw it in there as an observation in addition to the E.A. Poe reference. I just think if I started collecting references to other ASoUE books it'd make the list too unwieldy.

I would prefer that you would do every single easter egg, reference, allegory, foreshadowing, lyric, VFD acronym and phrases, and other stuff. It would be nice to find every single thing in one catalog, just like the underwater Hotel Denouement. I've done that ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/253263/images/cDlseaWVUtiyEsnlsCCm.gif) But it's written in Portuguese :~ Anyway, if you want to use Google translate to understand it, here's the link caferadioativo.com/2017/01/referencias-desventuras-netflix/ It's a series of 4 posts, enjoy ^^

Very interesting; thank you for writing that and linking it here. I missed a few of those things (e.g. the Brazilian wax turtle). You mention in passing that V.F.D. was C.S.C. in the Portuguese books, and that a few ironic pieces of dialogue and jokes are lost in translation. Were the V.F.D. references (e.g. "Verified Film Discount") mostly lost in the Portuguese version too? Or were they changed to C.S.C. or translated into different V.F.D. initialisms? I would prefer that you would do every single easter egg, reference, allegory, foreshadowing, lyric, VFD acronym and phrases, and other stuff. It would be nice to find every single thing in one catalog, just like the underwater Hotel Denouement. I wanted to make a list of every V.F.D. phrase used in the series so on my third watch of season one I might do that. I can't promise I'll do it soon, or at all, though.

And all V.F.D. references from the TV series got lost in the translation, they didn't bother adapting it to C.S.C. to match the book translation, unfortunately. I don't think the translation team responsible for the series has even noticed that VFD was a thing. In case you got curious about it, the Volunteer Fire Department became Corporação pelo Salvamento das Chamas in the Brazilian Portuguese translation (something like Flames Fighting Corporation). Another one I remember from the books is the Volunteers Fighting Disease that became Combatentes pela Saúde do Cidadão, or Fighters for the citizens' health ^^
