In the 13th Anniversary 667er, I wrote about the three generations of 667:
The original ASOUE generation, i.e. those who were here when ASOUE was being published; the most active members of this generation now are BSam, Dante and Linda, though many others are still around.
The middle generation, from the wilderness years; this is my own generation, and also includes Lemona, LSWannabe, Michelle, Seymour Glass and (bringing up the rear) Pen, Sophie and Bee.
The ATWQ generation, which includes many distinguished people such as Anka, Tryina, Mister M, Terry, Charlie, Bandit, Teleram, and (slipping in before the deadline) Zortegus, Comet and Gliquey.
But recently it struck me that this is not the new generation any more; we have a fourth generation, the Netflix generation: people like Lorelai, Quisby and of course our dear leader Beatricetriptych. I hope ryantrimble won't object to being counted in with this generation, as one of its leading figures, though he was actually here before the series became a Thing. And there are many others too numerous to count.
Discuss.

I agree with this, although i'd saz I wasn't technically from the ATWQ generation, as I joined before knowing of the new series exsistence (and before an of the other you mentioned), but I get that your definition is more about the general time rather than being specific.
Also I just realised iv'e now been at 667 for 5 years!
Hermes, what would be your exact dating for the generations? 5 year gaps seems to work, 2002, 2007, 2012, and 2017

Ha, that's interesting. Yes, five year intervals do seem to define our progress fairly well - or perhaps just the timescale on which things happen in the world of Snicket. The Netflix generation has to begin a bit before 2017, though, since it doesn't start with the series actually appearing but with it becoming a major topic of discussion, which happened in 2016 at latest with real and false trailers, casting news and so on. By the same token, perhaps the ATWQ generation should begin a bit before 2012.
I think several of the ATWQ generation actually came here for other reasons, but I'm counting them together, and you as part of them, because the series changed the nature of the board, and you were all part of the new atmosphere it created.

This is kind of a funny experience to read, because your analysis makes perfect sense, even though it places me in the same generation as Anka, Tryina, Mister M, Terry, Charlie, Bandit and Teleram (who have for all intents and purposes always been here), but also Zort and Gliquey (who are both still pretty new members... right?).
I was surprised to see that I joined between the release of ?2 and ?3, and not - as I thought - around the release of ?1. Maybe that was when I started browsing the forum, and then it just took me two years to join.

Well yes, it puzzles me to be in the same generation as Sophie and Bee, who I think of as pretty new. And while I'm now the 'oldest' of the middle generation, there were people in it before me like Emma and Elle, who I thought of as long-established when I arrived.

I know I started the SnicketFile blog a while before joining... yep, July 2011. And I joined here when the cover for WCTBATH was revealed; my first post was a (subjectively) improved re-design of the cover lol

I thought it was gonna talk about IRL generations based on age lmao.
Well, I like the fact that I am a distinguished member and I'm not considered 'new' here anymore. But I didn't come here bc of ATWQ, I just coincidentally found ASOUE at the same time everyone was talking about ATWQ.

I don't know where I would fit in.
I never read the books until 2013, but I did watch the movie in theaters back when it came out.
