In the past, bumping threads was disallowed because it was confusing to have old discussions mixed in with the new. That's not a problem anymore, and I see no reason to enforce anti-bumping rules based on this premise.
However, recent bumps / quoted posts from old threads strike me as not-purely-in-good-faith and, and while some older members may enjoy the walk through memory lane, others may feel targeted.
My proposed solution is this: if you would like to bump or quote old threads, I won't stop you, but the focus should be on the content of what was said and not on who said it. I expect that anyone adhering to this guideline would end up bumping or quoting a greater number of threads that do not feature currently active members.
If you are featured in a thread that has been bumped and you would like the recent posts removed, PM me and I will remove them. If there are repeated violations, the thread will be locked and moved to the archives.
I'm making this a general notice because I think it's a worthy topic for us all to consider, and also so that those with objections to this proposal have a place to voice them.
