Are you guys scared of n00bs now? I just realized this--in December, they will invade. They will make our fanfiction section on FFN huge and scary, and they'll trample 667. You prolly already realized this, but once the movie comes out...**shudder** LOLOL BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY WE GOT A GINORMOUS INFLUX OF NEWBIES WHEN THE MOVIE WAS EVEN FIRST ANNOUNCED, and of COURSE[/b] the flood has already started ever since the commercial aired! News flash, xenophobes: there ain't gonna be no newbie invasion. It would have already started if there was going to be one. Besides, if you're so TERRIFIED at the prospect of more people coming into our precious preciousssssss message board--which already has one thousand five hundred members on it, I remind you--why not just retreat into your shells? How do you people stand the thought that every day more people are born on your PLANET, if this is how you act about a book series? I mean, I never look forward to meeting stupid people, but remember, we've always had some wheat with our chaff. And that is the way it will stay. You guys probably scared Tamaghis off, you know. ;_____; Also, your comment about them making the section on ff.net "huge and scary" makes me laugh so freakin' hard. What, you mean that every person who watches the movie will have their brains turned to mush by it, because movies are a horrible horrible invention and nobody with two working brain cells can appreciate them, much less create art and writing based on them? I've already tried to make fanfiction based on the movie (on the characterizations of the troupe as according to the movie), and it's not even out yet.

Wouldn't you hate that? A big, ugly, impersonal Catergory 1239...

Hahaha, of course I'd hate my dear, dear ff.net Category 1239 belonging to the unwashed masses. Don't you know that the Internet is the most personal and private of any media in the world, to be controlled completely and totally by our whims? Seriously, if you're complaining about it being too impersonal, then maybe you should just stop going to a site whose entire point is to have fans congregate and share fiction.

I agree with madame. chill. even if there was an invasion of some sort, I think Tragedy (and other admins and mods) will be able to handle it.

I just meant that it would be, like, bigger. Like, you know how in Harry Potter if you ever want to find a fic twice you have to add it to your favorites list? I geuss I was whining....but still.

I geuss I was whining....but still. Yeah, but you're missing the fact that Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon. ASOUE is not. Harry Potter's section was huge, huuuuuuge even before the movies came out. All the movies were doing was making an already engorged section bigger, in the same manner of a five-hundred-pound obese person eating a slightly bigger buffet.

Another thing that seems to be missing is the positive side of things... perhaps people will see the movie, then be encouraged to read the book (this is what happened to me with Harry Potter). They won't necessarily get all the characters wrong. They won't necessarily invade. Heck, they might even add good discussion. If you're concerned about a newbie influx, what about September? The new book will come out, be on display at bookstores, people may give it a try, want to discuss it, and find this forum. My point being, there's more than one place a newbie can come from, and either way, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Well I hate it when people think they are such big fans of a story when they've only seen the film and not read the book(s). I read all the Harry Potter books before the films, (well, books 1-5 anyway, which are out) and read ASOUE ages ago, so if someone gets to rant on about the film it should indeed be the original fans... *breathes heavily*

Exactly. Stupid so-and-so things.

What if people only watch the ASOUE movie, come on 667 and say, quite politely and sincerely, that they're a big fan of the movie and, although they've never read the books, are planning to beg, borrow or buy them?
And what if they're unable to get the books at all for some reason, but just want to have a nice time talking about the movies? Then do we just throw them into our Movie really cool member Gas Chamber or what?
