I'm not buying into the Beatrice as Mrs. Baudelaire thing. There has been a Red Herring every time I can think that a connection would have been made. Check it out:
1--TEE--Jerome says that the Baudelaire's mother was swooped up into the sky by..something.. while they were climbing up Mount Fraught. Lemony, in some other book I can't recall, says he's seen the woman he loves swooped away by a huge eagle. BUT--At the end of the book is a picture of a huge red herring.
2--LSUA--Beatrice could whistle Mozart's 14th Symphony, just like Klaus said his mother could in TWW. BUT--The play that Beatrice was required to whistle Mozart's 14th in is performed at the Ned H. Rirger Theater. Anagram: Ned H. Rirger=Red Herring.
3-THH-On the patient's list at the hospital is a Carrie E. Adebulite. Anagram: Carrie E. Adebulite=Beatrice Baudelaire. BUT there is also a Ned H. Rirger on the list. Hmmmm.
Personally? I think it's K, Lemony's sister, that's the Baudmom, because of the salad thing, the photograph thing, and the one other thing.

I agree with Jerome, K=Snicket sister Beatrice=Baudelaire mom So you think two different ladies got picked up by eagles and were both viewed by 2 different men? I don't think that's very likely. Besides the Baudelaire mother died in a fire, so did Beatrice and Lemony's writing the books years after and writing letters to his sister in them. U can't write hidden letters to a dead person.

Sorry this Beatrice=mom thing is something I'm adamant about. Besides in LSUA it says in a letter "Of course Beatrice is far past complaining about lost possessions the very reason I'm sure u have dedicated yourself to researching those 3 children.

Lots of people have similar salad recipes. Well I am having trouble arguing with the photograph, but it's more likely for Lemony to be with her in a picture than 2 different women being scooped by 2 different eagles with 2 different witnesses. Anyway, we're not entirely sure the man with his face turned is Lemony...

But because of evidence discussed on page nine, experts conclude that there may indeed be a survivor of the fire! (It is so sad that I can quote that from memory. I have no life.)
Having a harder time with the eagle thing. But again, hey, this is Lemony Snicket, anything's plausible, even for two different women to be picked up by two different eagles on two different mountaintops with two different witnesses. OR--maybe both Beatrice and K were picked up by the same eagle on the same hike with the same witnesses and were both swooped up at the same time.
Woohooooo! Fanwanking is fun!!!!

What do you mean a picture of a huge red herring at the end?

Whoever has the Ersatz Elevator, does it specifically say that they were in the Mortmain Mountains? Because then it's entirely possible that the Mortmain eagles picked them both up...

Alright, if u discount my Beatrice-Mom evidence that has a red herring even close to it I've still got 3 good reasons why Beatrice should be the mom. 1) In LSUA the duchess of Winnipeg says in her letter to Lemony"Of course, Beatrice is far past complaing about lost property, the very reason I'm sure you have dedicated yourself to researching those 3 children" Why research them for Beatrice? Because she's their mom! 2) "I want to steal from you, the way Beatrice stole from me" Esme wants revenge on Beatrice, yet Beatrice is dead. So why would she take out her anger toward Beatrice on the Baudelaires? Because villains if they can't get revenge on the person often get revenge on their offspring. Why take out her anger toward Beatrice on 3 children who weren't related to her? 3) Lemony approached Beatrice because he hadn't seen her in 15 years. This corresponds with Violet's age of 14 cause Beatrice stopped seeing Lemony, married Mr. Baudelaire shortly thereafter conceiving Violet. There ya go!

MyNamesJacques... If you were female... I'd marry you! I love prooving that Beatrice is Mrs. Baudelaire almost as much as I love it when some one else does too... What now, all you unbelievers!

Good points all, MyNameIsJaques. But I still don't know....Beatrice as Baudmom just doesn't feel right to me. But hey, it's not my series. You know what would really suck? If Daniel Handler never answered the question throughout the whole series and left all of us sqabbling for eternity. Hmmph.
