If this were the ending of Book the 13th:
As the sun started to set, the three Baudelaire walked with their mother to their new life. As they were waiting in The Anxious Clown for dinner Violet decided it was the right time to ask the questioin they had all been dying to ask. "Mother," Violet said anxiously, "What does V.F.D. stand for?" "Well," their mother said, "I guess its time you should know. V.F.D. stands for Volunteer-" This is where I must stop you and end my tales of the Baudelaire orphans. I need not write any further since Count Olaf has been brought to justice and I have been found innocent. I bid you farewell, a word which here means "good-bye", to my faithful readers who had to read these terrible books.
The End

I think it is a little too cheery. I do like that he cut off the mother, but i still think it is too cheery for Unfortunate events. I would be disappointed. By the way, what if they all kill themselves so that Olaf never gets the fortune. Because remember the first book on tape has a song from the Baudelaire MEMORIAL service.

YOU CANNOT GLORIFY SUICIDE IN A CHILDREN'S BOOK. SHEESH. 2. It's the Baudelaire PARENTS memorial.

it's just the scream and run away song. That's all. Oh and by the way, i know they shouldn't glorify suicide in a kid's book but do you think putting murder and the word Damn in the books is good for kids too?

no, but Lemony never like described them or anything, there was just a dead Uncle Monty, they just saw Aunt Josephines hand, the only semi-graphis one was the death of Dr. Orwell. And they only said damn once. I do believe that in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (the book) Aunt Marge says damn somewhere in it.

oh yah, they say damn in the first HP but that wasn't my point my point was that they were murdered and that is bad. I mean, i know the baudelaires wouldn't kill themselves, but they should. Or at least live in a cave.

I don't want to see such a happy ending. But I don't want the children to die either. My ideal ending would involve the children being recruited into VFD, and a few clues that would allow us to put everything together. I wouldn't want answers stated outright.
