Well, the Baudelaires are still on the run for murder; perhaps in the 13th book that case will catch up with them. Also, the Baudelaires keep getting stuck between good and evil in the decisions they make as the series progresses; perhaps the Bauds have to do something evil to defeat Olaf, hence the Vicious Victory.

I think the 11th book will have the Baudelaires in a submarine. Towards the end they find the last safe place, only to be pushed off a cliff or something.
The 12th book will have them climb up the cliff back to the last safe place. They either meet up with Isadora and Duncan or Quigley. The books ends finding out I&D or Quigley are in mortal danger.
I think the 13th book takes place on the island Snicket mentioned in an "About The Author" page at the back of one of the books, with the pirates that invented the Devils Knot on it. They find out all the secrets. Lemony Snicket gives a bittersweet ending by having Olaf get his comeuppance, but someone important dies, most likely Quigley because then I&D will lose their brother again and Violet will be extra-upset.
Do you think he'd kill off a Baudelaire in the last book? It'll probably be Sunny, since she's just a baby. Plus, logically, if Olaf were to choose a Baudelaire to live he'd choose Violet because he wouldn't have to wait as long for her to turn 18.

Second, I agree with your thoughts about Baudecide. Olaf would let Violet live for another reason, too: he wants some of that hot underage distant cousin axxxtion. He says as such in CC or HH or thereabouts. I think CC.

You're right, it's in CC. I think the 13th book will be called something like The Final Fight or something. I'm not really sure what will happen in it, though.

I think that the Female Finnish Pirates will actually show up in book 11, but maybe return at the end as you suggested. Violet would be quite honored to meet them. However, I don't think that all the secrets will be just spilled for us at the end. Instead, we the readers (and not necessarily the characters) will be given some crucial evidence that helps everything to fit together.

I dunno about the pirates. Up until now, as outlandish as some of the things in ASOUE were, they've all been just barely realistic enough to be within the realm of the imagination. Most of the environment and people in ASOUE are huge caricatures of real life (Esme and the city where everything is dictated by what is "in" or "out," for example), and even things like the Lucky Smells Lumbermill, the Reptile Room and Aunt Josephine's weird house could all theoretically exist. I would be disappointed if Handler introduced thigns like pirates so late into the series, as it kind of breaks the faux-real-life illusion he's maintained so far.
Wow, I got through a post about the ASOUE world without using the world "microcosm." Oh wait...

lemony wouldnt give us all the answers at the end of the book. that would be stupid. hes just gonna keep givin us clues and leave as hanging after every book. hell want us to figure it out for areselves. He might not even tell us what VFD means, but he will give us enough clues and evidence so we can find out areselves.

*laughs* I agree. Olaf often mentions how pretty Violet is, and don't forget he was about to marry her in the first book. I didn't say he would. He'd keep on giving us new bits of information each book, and then we finally find out everything in the last book so that there are no loose ends. Part of the appeal of the book is wondering what VFD is, and if you give away everything before that, less people will buy the last book. Some people were saying that one of the books would be called The Blank Book. I looked on Amazon, and it's actually just a common place books with depressing quotes on the bottom of the page.

Haha, it'd be hilarious if they actually released book thirteen as a completely blank book. Screams of rage would be heard all around the nation.
Ooh ooh, or if on the third page the book suddenly goes: "...Klaus said, which here mea [the rest of this manuscript could not be found.]"
