I'm not totally disqualifying your opinion, but I'd disagree with you. This is because what you said is like saying that Violet's and Isadora's talents both use the same kind of creativity. Duncan's journalism skills and Klaus' research skills seem different to me in their own way. Journalism is largely research and reporting, so I would disagree with you/agree with Tocuna. Violet works with machines; her talent is physical, and this sets her apart from both Klaus and the Quagmires (except maybe Quigley). Both Isadora and Duncan's talents are more intellectual/immaterial than anything else. You can pretty much split up the orphans (and possibly all the characters) into two groups, the ones who are focused intellectually, and the ones who are focused physically. The intellectual ones would be Isadora, Klaus and Duncan, and the physical ones would be Sunny, Violet and Quigley. Of course they often overlap, as is often proven in the books.

Definitely true. Couplet writing and invention are two entirely different talents. Quigley's cartography skills are intellectual as well as physical. I'm not much of a cartographer, but I know that making maps requires a lot of thinking and spacial reasoning skills.
Duncan's talent overlaps with Klaus and Isadora's skills. Isadora also researches and records facts, but she gets extra points for doing it in rhyme. Duncan is, in my opinion, a bit dull. Quigley is so xylophone.

I voted for Duncan. Mainly because I didn't think he was very helpful. Isadora wrote the couplets and led the Baudelaires to them and Quigley really helped them in the tenth book. Personally I just don't think Duncan did all that much. Please don't hurt me Duncan fans! *hides*
