Can anyone please tell me the WHOLE story about Lemony and Beatrice? I've gathered bits and pieces but I just can't seem to figure the whole story out. Just tell me how it started, how it ended, and everything in between. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

[glow=red,2,300](Spoilers)[/glow]
Lemony met Beatrice at one point in time or other. They got engaged to be married, but what ended up happening was that she found something out that was untrue about Lemony(not sure what it was), ended up being engaged to and marrying Bertrand. Then, Lemony helped Beatrice steal the sugar bowl from Esme. After that, I guess they lost touch until Lemony heard Beatrice and Bertrand died in the fire.
During the course of the Beatrice Letters, which is 9 or 10 years after The End, Lemony corresponds with Beatrice Baudelaire, who he thinks is the Baud's Mom. After certain correspondence, though, he realizes that this Beatrice is his niece who was being taken care of by the Baud's.

No one knows. The story of Lemony and Beatrice is meant to be both touchign and ambigous. There arep eices of it in UA and TBL, but I don't tihkn even Snicket himself knows the whole story. IF we're meant to know the whoel story, we'll find out in Horseradish.

Lemony's letters in TBL are from before TBB, and Beatrice's letters are from after The End.

Right, superorange. Snicket himself has said that TBL "started long before The Bad Beginning and end long after The End".

The "untrue thing" was presumably that Lemony was dead. So she marries Betrand, but still intends to name her first child Lemony to honor him.

But supposedly, Beatrice decided not to marry Lemony whilst Lemony was still alive. Why would she send a 200-page novel describing her predicament to someone she presumed was dead.
I think Beatrice was one of the few people who knew Lemony was alive...

Lemony was forbidden from ever meeting Beatrice again, also. Whether or not Beatrice actually thought he was dead, he was pretty much dead to her.

I think another reason that Beatrice couldn't marry Lemony was because it would be against her father's wishes. In TBL when LS gives that long response to how long he'll love he says "..and i will love you if you betray your father." Maybe she was forbidden to see him by her father? Although of course, this could have nothing to do with anything.

Another thought on the matter, is that the tradition (as revealed in The End) is to name ones child after someone who is dead. Because Beatrice 1 intendend to name Violet, Lemony if she was boy, then Beatrice 1 must have, at some point, considered him dead, so she was going to name her child after him, in accordance with the tradition. However, Violet turned out to be a girl, so instead it was Violet. Hope that helps. I've reread it, and I realize it's confusing, but its the best I can explain that...

But I think AFTER Violet's birth, she found out Lemony was alive and in hiding. So, instead of naming Klaus Lemony, she named him after some other dead relative.

ummmm... are you sure about that? i interpretted it differently, that the letters were in different time periods. it seemed to me like the letters from lemony were being written to the baudelaires mum when she was alive, and then into the future when kits beatrice was born the letters being written to lemony were from the young beatrice not the older one. i think he was actually writting to the baudelaire mum. i dunno i might be wrong though, but when i looked over it thats what i understood from it, because the letters from beatrice were reffering the the 3 baudelaire as if they were her siblings, not children.

That's already been clarified. Some were for Beatrice Baudelaire and some were for Beatrice Snicket Baudelaire(Kit's daughter)
