I know some people are going to call me insane for making a thread like this, but it may turn out to be significant somehow... Anyway, I was rereading parts of OOTP today because my cousin recently gave it back, and in the part at the Hog's Head Harry described the bartender as a man with long grey hair and beard(just like Dumbledore). He also said the man was "strangely familiar." Now obviously Harry wouldn't have recognized him immediately because he's only ever seen him in one picture. But Dumbledore mentioned in book 4 that his brother was charged with performing inappropriate charms on a goat, and call me paranoid, but Harry did say the Hog's Head smelled somewhat like goats. I think this is a fairly good theory, even though it is a bit unimportant. What do all of you think?

I dont think this is insane at all. I was even going to post my theory myself. I do believe that it is Aberforth.

Jacques, that is a surprisingly good theory. I never saw it coming. I will take note of that next time I read OotP.

Yeah, not insane at all.
And, yes, good theory.

You have brought me into a new light. I certainly never thought of that *adds to her list of theories to watch for*

*sigh*
People, you need to read Galadriel Waters! This theory, amonst many, many others are in those books! That is where I get all my theories.
I applaud you for coming up with that theory on your own though, I would have never thought of that if I hadn't have read My Ultimate Unofficial Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter. Oh, and another thing to add to that Aberforth theory is that Dumbledore said he has "Sources" in the Hog's Head that give him info. Aberforth could be one of those sources. And have you noticed how Aberforth always seems to be more interested in the conversation going on in the Hog's Head than his bartending duties?

Yes, I mean he didn't seem to care how much business he was getting when the DA all came in(if he is indeed Aberforth) Hermione where on Earth did uget that book? I WANT IT! It sounds so awesome! And I thank u all for thinking I'm not insane, I don't remember Dumbledore saying he had sources at the Hog's Head, but just another reason for this theory to be valid.

This could also be a reason why the Hog's Head isn't very clean. Aberforth is too busy eavesdropping to sweep/get a clean rag. Or people may tend to tell personal information in an unsanitary place.

Well, Aberforth (we think) keeps it cheap for people, so lots come. Unfortunately he hasn't got the money to spruce up the place. Dumbledore(Albus) did seem to know the Hog's Head well though. Oh, and btw, my friend who refuses to post on this site(he prefers mugglenet) has rearranged some of the letters in Aberforth Dumbledore. The rearranged result was: the lord of murder He claims to be onto something but I refuse to believe it.

Remeber dumbledor was interveiwing divination teachers in the top room of the hogs head , well , It could be Aberforths house above the bar and dumbledor stays with often , and if your friend is right there is even more proof for the "dumbledor is evil" theory.

I got the book from Waldenbooks, most bookstores have it, but hardly any libraries do. So anyway, did you know that Dumbledore has like five names? Albus Brian Wulfric Dumbledore. There is another name I am forgetting though.

I DON'T think Dumbledore is evil, but I do think Aberforth runs the Hogs Head. But remember JK came up with the anagram: Tom Marvolo Riddle into I am Lord Voldemort in book 2, which came out in 98, which was LONG before Snicket began using anagrams. In fact that book came out before tbb. I just wish JK wrote as fast as Snicket.

Snicket doesn't write that fast. It used to take him a few short months to write one book, now it takes him a year! Of course, his books are getting longer, but they are still not as long as JKR's.

No, they are certainly not as long as JKRs. The pages have less words, plus there are of course, less pages. Speaking of fast/slow writing, does anyone know when Book 6 is coming out? Even a ballpark, my mom said she read a newsweek article about it coming out in June this year, but I haven't quite got my hopes up. Galadriel never actually came out and said that she thought the bartender was Aberforth, she only hinted at it(my friend let me borrow new clues..)
