Hmm...Padma & Parvati were supposed to be East Indian, I think. Those names are very East Indian...not to mention the last name Patil... I think it's very hard for authors to genuinely put people of different ethnic groups into their stories without readers mistakening it for tokenism. How many black people are needed for it to not be tokenism? There's Angelina, there's Lee Jordan, there's Dean...and probably more. The fact is, in Britain, the population is predominantly white anglo-saxons. I think Rowling's survey of ethnicities is fairly accurate (and wonderfully including! You don't see that with too many authors)...not tokenism at all. On a slightly unrelated topic, my sister said she always imagined Sirius Black to look Native American. That wouldn't really work, as he's supposed to be British, but I guess it's all in the interpretation of the reader.

A blonde. Am I just prejudiced for thinking everyone was white?

Well, I think every race pictures people in the books as their race.
I did, then I see the movies and change it to the way it is there... Like, now I see Dean as black, Angelina as Black, and I always knew Lee was black, so I didn't have to change that.

Well, I don't picture anyone in ASOUE as white. Really? Even after you saw the picture on the cover? Like Taylor, I sorta changed my views after the movies, even though Dean will always be white to me. I always knew Lee was black as well.

J: Wait, I said don't? I meant do. I mean "I don't picture anyone in ASOUE as black." Ah, yes, I see. A simple word can screw up sentences, I hate it. Goodness, I've never thought about it, but I also picture absolutely everyone in ASoUE white. Ya think black people picture everyone black?
