I hold these truths to be self-evident, that Sirius can't remain dead, that dreams play an important part, and that JK Rowling is cheezy.
Remember that dream speech that Tripping!Dumbledore gave in the movie about dreams? As an HP Sleuth, stuff taken away from the movie is not important, and stuff added is important. I still don't know why the heart speech Sirius gave was important, except to show that he's an idiot. Trying to talk a werewolf out of transformation? What an as-I mean, poohead.
Well...coming back in a dream is the cheeziest way a person can come back. And because JK is cheezy and won't let sleeping dogs lie.
C: Teehee! You made a pun.

Dreams have always played an important role. Harry had that dream about Quirell's turban sitting on his head and telling him to join Slytherin, which isn't as silly as it seems by the time you get to the end of the book. This isn't even counting all those dreams where Harry was more or less in Voldemort's head later on. And those dreams before the beginning of the book where Harry could somehow remember the green light, cold laughter, and being flown on a motorcycle. I wonder if the note included how he got to Privet Drive, and if that has anything to do with the Dursley's freaking out so much when he mentioned it. Sorry, went off on a tangent.
I actually don't remember that speach about dreams he gave, so I'm just speculating until someone gives me a hint.

I think the Sirius heart speech is trying to say Sirius is always in Harry's heart, get over his death blah blah blah. The dream thing is interesting but I want him back for real.. couldn't the dream be about something else?

J: No, not the candle opening day thing. It was when he was walking around the giant sleepover. C: "...but for now, let the dream. For in dreams, we live in a world which is entirely our own. Where we can climb the highest mountain and fly over the higest cloud." J:I memorized it because I hated it so much. I also memorized the heart speech-- C: "Remus, my old friend, did you take your potion tonight?...Remus, this is not you! This is not your heart! The heart is where you truley live! Your heart! This flesh is only flesh!" J: And the balcony Remus speech. C: "You know, the very first time I saw you, Harry, I recognized you immediately. Not be the scar, but by your eyes. They're your mother's eyes. Lily's. Oh yes, I knew Lily. She was not only a particulary gifted witch, but also an uncommonly kind one. She was there for me in a time when no one else was. She had the talent for seeing the good in people, most particulary when they could not see it themselves. Your father, James, on the other hand, had a talent for trouble. A talent, rumour has it, he passed down to you. You're more like him than you know, Harry. In time, you'll see just how much."
