It just came to me today, when I started rereading GoF for the zillionth time.
They say the owner of the Riddle house is wealthy, and no one really knows why the person who owns it owns it.
Well, what if it was the Malfoys? They are certainly wealthy, and it would explain how they acquired the diary of Tom Riddle and such.
What do you think? Am I a dunce? Has this been discussed previously?

Well, that's a really interesting theory, and it is very likely true, but since I don't go to Horrible Harry Potter that much...then , I guess it HASN'T been discussed before, unless someone proves me wrong....

That's a good theory.
At any rate, I haven't heard it, so that's enough reason to post it.

I havnt heard of it either. Maybe the old Riddle house is the new Malfoy house. very unlikely though.

That's an interesting theory and it wouldn't surprise me if it was true.. well it would surprise me but I'd be happy and say 'Hay thats what Trish said!' I don't know what I'd do next though, maybe praise your genius?

Good theory Trish! Except I didn't think that the Malfoys would want to buy the house because that would be "associating with muggles" but I still think it could happen!

Well, they'd buy it to get all of Tom Riddle's stuff, and they wouldn't be associating with muggles except realtors because it was a wizard's house. Yeah, but you already praise my genius, so you'd have to do something else spesho, Pandora. XD It just couldn't be the new Malfoy house because the Riddle house is unnoccupied right now. Unless it was a very recent new house or something. Thanks Rikku.

Another theory problem, Tom riddle Jr.s' (voldie's) stuff wouldn't have been in that house because voldie never lived in that house remember? The house belonged to voldie's father and grandparents, voldie himself never lived there. So none of his stuff would be there... right? <slight confusion>

Well, he still might have stored some of his things there. Or something.

Yes, he might've. He showed no worries about using the place in book 4. So he prolly knew someone close to him was the owner.

Well, he still might have stored some of his things there. Or something. or maybe 'voldie' TOLD the malfoys(or another rich deatheating family) to buy it so he could use it for his evil purposes...

Yeah, I thought maybe Voldemort was the one coercing them to buy it.
Thanks Kimia. ^_^
