The HP series could've been great if they'd just started off with a decent director--CC is NOT a director, all he seems to care about is making cute kids do adorable/comical mug shots...his biggest mistakes was targeting the movies towards children, instead of focusing on the multi-generational appeal of the books.
As for ASoUE...I didn't know they were jamming three books into one movie. Which characters are getting cut out then? Becuase I'm assuming if it's one movie, there's only going to be one guardian...it would just be too chaotic if they tried fitting all three guardians in one book.
Thinking of this is giving me a headache. There are too many ways to screw this movie up with the direction they're taking. And why, oh why is Nickolodeon doing this? Almost an instant guarantee of suckiness...

They're gonna do all three books, but in 1 movie. So the Baudes will start out @ Olafs, then go to Monty's and then Josaphine's.

I mean, I know Nickolodeon caters to little kids, but it's kind of disturbing to think that American youth is THAT Ritalyn-dependent!

Not necessarily....look what they did to Holes, that was actually good, Freaky Friday was good, and that was made out of a book too...sure, they changed it, but it was still the same plotline. But if they do that to ASoUE {change the details} I will kill myself! (And I know I'm going to get comments saying stuff like, "Finally!", but seriously...) And they'll have to change it, to fit all that 100+ pages into one movie that is less than 2 hours (I think, but I definetly do not hope )

Non sequitor: Oh yes, Holes was absolutely wonderful, if I do say so myself, and I'm a very, very picky fan.

lol ;D can you imagen them making ASOUE Legos?? Now THAT would be weird Lets build Olaf's house! (Oddly, i own quite a bit of HP lego, and merch since my mother suffered the dillusion that i liked it) I would only buy the action figures if they resembled my ideas of the character, or Brett's drawings, not if they resembled the movie carachters. Still... it will be impossible to make a good movie that relates to the books if there are 3 books crammed in there Holes was good i agree, dupin. Edit: I don't watch any of Nick's shows, but i agree they are all crap. *Remembers childhood shows in the likes of What a Mess and Bump in the Night.* If nick can't make good shows, how can it expect a good movie?

Also, since Nick is doing this, most of the commercials are going to be on Nick so you'll be having your 8 year olds and 9 year olds watching the movie....

I would only buy the action figures if they resembled my ideas of the character, or Brett's drawings, not if they resembled the movie carachters. Still... it will be impossible to make a good movie that relates to the books if there are 3 books crammed in there I agree. 1- Again, not a big fan of action figures, but I will go absolutely nuts if they resemble the actors more than Mr. Helquist's drawings. Not really a big deal, I know, but its' the little things that drive me crazy. 2- Exactly. I mean, like Grace said, it'll be about two hours long, because, as Crackpot said, "America's youth is ritalin dependant" (heh ;D ) and therefore will die if they have to sit in a theater for a minute longer than that. So they'll have about 45 minutes per gaurdian, correct? (I can't think very well, so my oh so genius calculations are most likely off...I feel stupid.) MEH is all I have to say to that. That's really not enough time. Actually, not even that, because they'll have to do a bunch of extra stuff in between, and the beginning and end...so I'm guessing about half an hour per gaurdian. Does anyone wonder how they're going to make this flow smoothly? Because in the books, it just sort of picks up a little bit after were you left off in the previous book, but how are they going to do this in the movie? I can't really see it as going "Baudelaires wave goodbye to Justice Struass, cut to shot of Baudelaires in car on the way to Uncle Monty's" Or it's just me...meh. I also am going to miss Snicket's little remarks throughout the book...do you think they'll have a narrator do all those? I can't remember if they have a narrator or not...and if so, is the narrator going to just narrate, or are they going to play a Snicketish role...I'm rambling. I honestly cannot see Jim Carrey doing Count Olaf. They need someone far more goofishly sinister than the guy who's best known for acting in Dumb and Dumber. Nor does Meryl Streep strike me as a very good Josephine. I always pictured Aunt Josephine to be very wispy and quiet and...well, I just never pictured Meryl Streep. Mmm...the kids seem ok, I guess. I've only seen a picture or two of them, though, so I have no idea whatsoever.
