Im glad disney didnt do it because it might have been animated and they would have made it into a cheesy happy ending movie. Disney only does happy ending movies (Nemo, ect.)
Alls I have to saw is: Phew!

Thank the gods of theater that Disney never got the movie rights. They'd tack on some ending where the parents showed up to save the children and Olaf was taken to prison and Mr Poe bought some effective cough syrup and they all went out for ice cream. Nice graphic, Dr. Seuss.

Actually, I think that if Disney did it, they wouldnt white wash everything like Disney usually ends up doing. And I also think that all of the character designs would look more like the illustrations (even if Im incredibly happy with what they look like with Dreamworks doing this).
Actually, I had originally wanted this to be an animated movie. Just the things they could do with it would be awsome. But whatever.
Also, while Disney can be a bit hackneyed and corny, they are respectible among the animation/feature film business. And for those of you who dont know:
If youve ever played American Mcgee's: Alice, then youll know a movie version is on its way. Well, guess whos in control of that depressing, blood-riddled, insane ride of a movie. Disney! Im hoping fo rthe best. Anyways, just thought I would give my input.

Well although DIsney can be sort of cheesy...it knows when to be serious....like in THe Hunchback of Notre Dame. The main villain goes after the gipsy girl because of LUST!
But...not that i like who runs the Disney company right now so...if they ended up doing it...it just could not be of the high quality Disney usually does...heh.

But Paramount is doing it (with Nickelodean by their side), so we have nothing to worry about. ;D

It was all but shut down after Home on the Range wrapped, with some animators going to Florida to work on direct-to-video stuff. Then they let Pixar slip through their fingers. All in all, it's a repeat of Disney in the 80's, around the time of The Black Cauldron. They've lost their way, and they need a "Little Mermaid" to begin a third reniassance. I don't know if they can do it this time, but they're definitely looking to reinvent themselves.

I agree with Damocles and OlafsAssociate, it's a shame... I miss the glory days of Disney, from Mermaid to Mulan and all the Pixars sprinkled inbetween... the stories weren't as corny as people now crack them up to be. They were good... I mean, remember the Lion King? God... what a triumph that was. The music was awesome. I miss that Disney... I loathe the Lizzie McGuire(sp?) Disney of today. If Disney got it's hands on ASOUE a while back it would have had a great chance, although they weren't always the best at live-action movies.

I honestly mean no disrespect, but the glory days of Disney are generally considered to be from 1937 (Snow White) to 1961 (101 Dalmations). 1989 (Little Mermaid) was akin to Disney's Second Coming.

I agree that The Lion King was a timeless classic. Thats one of the few Disney Animation movies I liked (of course, all the sequals I bothered to watch sucked).
Anyways, yeah, it was good ina time that is now gone, because now its full of Hillary Duff (evil) and Raven (annoying).
Of course, I still enjoy the occasional Even Stevens here and there, but thats because the talent on that show is actually good. Or most of it, at least.

OH MY GOD, are you serious? Disney is actually doing American McGee's Alice?! I never played it, but I went through a let's-obsess-about-things-I-don't-have phase and looked it up. GodDAMN. Maybe they'd do it under the Touchstone label, didn't they do that with Nightmare Before Christmas?
I heard they were doing a Kingdom Hearts movie but I don't believe it.
If Disney got the rights to ASOUE...well, I'm not entirely sure what I'd think. I'd probably love to see what the animation would look like, but...*shrug* I can just imagine...I'm not entirely sure it'd be good XD

How about Toy Story, I thought that movie was great! Even the sequal (and sequels usually suck if theyre not based on a book). Yes I hate Lizzie McQuire and Razen (although Hillary Duff is kinda hott ;D) I do like Even Stephens, I thought it was pretty funny.

It would definetly suck if it was a cheap anikation film, like theyre doing to Star Wars on Cartoon Central (shudders). It would be neat to see them like Pixar caracters even though I never liked what the Humans looked like in it.

Are you ina different country (aside from the US, I mean)? Here in the US, its Cartoon Network...Hm...I guess I never thought about that.
Anyway, yeah, the star wars thing is dumb.
