The "The when your in the theater one is starting to lack in posters so this is a new one.
I think that it should start with a scream, while it is a pitch black screen. Preferably, in the form of “BBBBBBBEEEEEEEEAAAAATTTTTRRRICCCCCCCEEEE” or he could say the dedications of the first three books (with the screen still black) then go into the Beatrice thing. Then after that he can tell about the miserable movie taht is about to begin...start the movie ;D

I think it should start out with smoke then, moving on the mansion and changing to a piece of paper in the mansion burning say " Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events." It shows the paper til it burns away. Then it should do the cast members like that too. Then preceeds on to Briny Beach.

INT. NED H. RIRGER THEATER
The screen is pure BLACK as the beginning credits begin. We can hear FRIGHTENED GASPING in the background, NO it's not what you think you SICKO.
After the opening credits roll we CUT TO a B&W shot of VIOLET BAUDELAIRE as the BRIDE in the Marvelous Marriage. Her face is BLOODIED, and slowly a hand makes its way into frame, caressing her face.
OLAF (V.O.) Do you find me sadistic?
Violet does not reply, but grimaces at the touch of his hand.
OLAF (V.O.) No, Violet...I'd like to believe that you're aware enough, even now, to know that there is nothing sadistic in my actions. Well, maybe towards those other jokers...but not you.
Olaf POKES Violet's face affectionately, and she turns away, still gasping for breath.
OLAF (V.O.) At this moment...
We hear the sound of BULLETS RATTLING. Violet turns back to him, in a mix of curiosity and agonizing fear.
OLAF (V.O.) ...this is me at my most masochistic.
Violet SPEAKS, slowly and painfully.
VIOLET Olaf...it's your bab--
Before she can get the last word out, she is SHOT IN THE SIDE OF THE HEAD. Fade to black.Actually--in all seriousness--I think the movie should start out with a scene from a V.F.D. meeting or similar. (Possibly a flashback?) This way they can drop a fwe clues as to who is and is not in V.F.D., and possibly set up Olaf's backstory with a few references to his starting the schism. The first few minutes could be more Lemony-centric, since he's documenting the Baud adventures after they've already happened, after all. Then later on when he's talking to the "private eye" that's been mentioned here and there, he segues into the actual Baud-focused parts of the story.

Eh, I think were going to simply hear some voice over, see the Briny Beach thing, then see the opening credits, then see the rest of the movie, with more narration and stuff. I dont think we will get any flashbacks or anything.

No, I mean Lemony/Beatrice flashbacks. Not Baudelaire flashbacks. I know those will be in the movie a few times.

I think they should open it like the old disney movies, with someone opening a book, and then go from there.

No, no, that would suck.
I like VFDEye's idea-that's pretty much what I'd like.

I'd like to see the camera swoop over a gloomy city, with smoke rising from some fire. Crows circle ominously. The camera follows a wailing firetruck, and a trolley moves in the opposite direction. Then the camera moves slowly to Briny Beach, and we hear Lemony saying "If you are interested in stories with happy endings, go see another movie....". We see the title as Lemony says "...every day could be the beginning of......A Series of Unfortunate Events". Something like that.

I think it would be perfect if it started everything black and the captions "Based on a true story" or "File #1313 from the VFD Library of Records" something like that... and then "For Beatrice- ..." Then some introduction by Snicket, and then Brinny Beach.
