yes! no reletive wanted one. in the opening of VV Poe (whos not that clever) is talking on the phone. however, if u turn to the end of BB u read about Justice Strauus saying that they as in the Baudelaires should follow their parents wishes. so technically, V.F.D. was the place they wanted to go cause of past guardians remberances. i recently read VV so i can remeber this today. ASOUEnutcase, you bumped a thread that was more than two months old. This is frowned upon here at 667. Please do not do it again.

While this thread is here...allow me to gloat and waggle my finger at Dante. He was sooo wrong about Gorgon and Quisling...

While this thread is here...allow me to gloat and waggle my finger at Dante. He was sooo wrong about Gorgon and Quisling... Actually, I'm still counting the mention of a gorgon in the Grim Grotto as possible vindication, and I'm still holding onto hope that they may still feature in future books. Also, I just checked one of my dictionaries, and it doesn't capitalise gorgon or quisling because it has them down as nouns rather than proper nouns - hence Gorgon and Quisling must be capitalised in the BBRE because they are character names.

I'm prepared to concede that there might be a simile or linguistic digression about a quisling/Quisling, but if there is a character Quisling, then I will ritually forswear my right to eat black truffles.

but if there is a character Quisling, then I will ritually forswear my right to eat black truffles. Wow, you're as serious about this as I was with the Ominous Omnibus. I once, I think, said that I'd leave 667 if it turned out to be Book the Twelfth, so confident was I that I was right. And I was!

If Gorgon wasn't a person, what makes you believe Quisling is?

If Gorgon wasn't a person, what makes you believe Quisling is? The capitalisation in the BBRE, which as I have demonstrated, is unnecessary if they were not being used as pronouns. And TGG doesn't discount the possibility of there being a Gorgon in a future book. If anything, it provides evidence that one might use to back it up...

Well, chances are Lemony won't mention the Gorgons again. That would be like repeating something, and Lemony always comes up with new stuff. No, I doubt we shall see any more Gorgons, and only a brief mention of Quisling, IF he ever comes at all. Perhaps Gorgon and Quisling are the names of the unknowns....

You mean the sinister duo?
G and Q...GQ...Gentleman's Quarterly...disreputable, tacky and smutty magazine...
Pretty sinister to me...

Indeed, although Gorgon is a rather strange name. Perhaps it's her last name... Gina Gorgon and Quentin Quisling.....hehe. I can't think of a more Snicketish girls name starting with G.... Gertrude is too lame.

I can't think of a more Snicketish girls name starting with G.... Forgotten the name of that Punctilio reporter so soon? No wonder Poe thought that she was J.S.

Genivive? Sorry, I might have spelled that wrong.
It's weird, because to me, Gorgon suggests the grotto, but...I don't know. Quisling is weird, too.

Genevieve is Esme's second middle name.
The reporter is called Geraldine Julienne.

Forgotten the name of that Punctilio reporter so soon? No wonder Poe thought that she was J.S. Geraldine's last name is Julienne, not Gorgon. Besides, Lemony wouldn't have two people have the same name.

Geraldine's last name is Julienne, not Gorgon. Besides, Lemony wouldn't have two people have the same name. I know. It's just that you said that you couldn't think of any Snicketish girl's names beginning with G. Edit: Interesting fact: Before TGG, I had Gorgon down as being Gorgon Anwhistle. Funny how both came up in TGG anyway.
