During my ASOUE marathon last night (which consists of being under the duvet with a torch, all 12 ASOUE books plus the add-ons and a large bag of Doritos), I noticed that in what remains of the preview letter of TCC (see end of THH), one part reads 'DOOBY kilometres', which of course usually means such a thing will be introduced in the next book, in this case TCC.
After reading the book, however, I can't find any trace of DOOBY kilometres.
Did I miss something? Was it removed from the final draft at the last minute? Has this thread been made before?

No, it most likely says something like: "The Carnivorous Carnival is hidden thirteen hundred ninenteen and one half miles (DOOBY kilometers) from the restaurant...." It's just a measurement, not something that will be included in the next book. I mean, they didn't include a restaurant, jewlery store or laundromat in TCC, did they, but they are still mentioned, are they not?

Snicket can't very well say 'HERE IS THE MANUSCRIPT', can he, the letters are to give a preview. Mostly features that AREN'T things that we have in real life in the letter and are for the books are ones that are in the next book, if you understand me. Is DOOBY kilometres a measurement only used in the US or something?

I think there was a thread about this, but if there is it's old enough to have been locked. I once tried to figure out if there was some numeric code hidden in the initials "DOOBY" and I failed to get anything that would fit in with the number of miles given in the letter, and encoding metric conversions like that doesn't really make sense. (Edit: here's the thread with my attempts at calculations: asoue.proboards11.com/index.cgi?board=seven&action=display&thread=1087252898)If it was intended to be meaningful, it must have been cut out of the final draft(like, apparently, the lamps mistakenly delivered to Hal). So I don't think this is significant at all.
