BRILLIANT! That was just great. Very funny. "The holiday season is a time for storytelling, and whether you hear the story of a candelabra staying lit for more than a week, or one about a baby born in a barn without proper medical supervision, these stories often feature miracles. Miracles are like pimples, because once you start looking for them you find more than you ever dreamed you'd see, and this holiday story features any number of miracles, depending on your point of view." That just cracked me up, with the medical supervision. ;D

I'm sure there's more to this story than meets the eye. I expect there's code in it somewhere. A lump of COAL? And mention of an eggplant salad? Please let my suspicions be justified. After all, this was written by Mr Snicket, not Mr Handler.

Hmmmm, I think not. Seems too.... weird to be a code. He just wrote a funny story is all. OR IS IT? (play creepy music)

Yeah! I just saw it on my table about an hour ago and read it, and it was pretty awesome. I was going to make a thread about it, but I'm not surprised that someone beat me to it..

So very random, just like the rest of Snicket's work. Random and unexpected.

After all, this was written by Mr Snicket, not Mr Handler. Tocuna, Dante, supreme cryptologists, answer my summons! There's also a mention of salmon fillets. One could also draw a connection between the secretarial school and Sunny being employed as Nero's secretary, although the link is tenuous at best. Anyway, the story--wonderful. They never saw Santa Claus again, although they heard he had been fired from the drugstore for making fun of somebody who was buying a certain ointment.

*squee*
I saw those connections, and I think the Art Gallery owner sounds rather like Esmé, or some other villan like that.
We do not represent artists such as yourself," said the gallery owner, after the lump of coal had introduced itself. The gallery owner had a long, oily mustache and a strange accent that the lump of coal suspected was fake. "We have a wide selection of works by human beings that suits us just fine. Please go away, and don't leave smudges on my artistic floor."
This also made me laugh:
because I forgot to tell you that for the sake of argument the lump of coal could read.

A fake accent? I wonder if it was one of the V.F.D people disguised.
