Okay, sorry this is ridiculously late and that I haven't been on in forever, but here's my recap...
Er, I'm not going to go over the show because Gigi did a good job of that...
So, after much waiting, I finally got to meet Handler. Following is a (probably not completely accurate; it's been a while) transcript of the conversation that ensued:
(Note: I was there with my cousin - who's in her upper 20s - and my mother.)
SetnicK: Why weren't you on the Today Show on Tuesday?
Handler: Um, I wasn't on the Today Show any other day this month either. Was I
supposed to be on the Today Show on Tuesday?
SetnicK: Well, you were rumored to be.
Handler: I see.
*At this point the conversation sort of dies. Then Handler notices the shirt I'm wearing that has
this comic on it and gives credit to the site (www.talesfrombandcamp.com).*
Handler: Band camp, eh? I've heard that that's pretty much makeout central.
SetnicK's cousin (gesturing at SetnicK's mother): You're not supposed to say that in front of parents!
Handler: Oh, I mean...I'm sure band camp is a completely....educational experience.
*Handler then stops to sign our three books, all with "With All Due Respect".*
SetnicK: So, is Mr. Snicket planning to write anything else after he has finished recounting the tale of the Baudelaire children?
Handler: Yes. His Will.
SetnicK: (laughs)
Handler: Well, another case could take his interest.
SetnicK: Hmm...
*End of conversation*
So, yeah. It was interesting. And Mary, I totally didn't realize you MADE that pumpkin! I noticed it while I was standing in line; it was amazing!
Oh, and on another note - me, being the absentminded person that I am, remembered to take my camera to Chicago only to forget it at my Aunt's house and not have it for the book signing. I think I'm pretty much going to be kicking myself for that one for the rest of my life.
Oh, and my ticket ended in a multiple of thirteen so I got a free Count Olaf Standee, which was exciting.
