I really didn't get his autobiography. I think it was just something for his readers to read so that he can have more time to write his books. Then again, you learn many things from his autobiography

That book was pretty confusing... but maybe it will all add up after the 13th, or 12th, or 11th book...

i read the autobiography and didn't understand any of it. then a couple of months later i picked it up and read some of the index. it led me to lots of theories and clues of the next books. it takes a while to piece it all together and he only gives you little clues but you can figure small info on the characters just by looking in the index.

My friend who convinced me to read ASOUE, after I had read 1-8 (before 9 or 10 came out), she got me to read LSUA. I didn't want to, because I thought it was just random documents, and in a way it is, and the first time I read it, it made no sense to me...I read it a few times more, and it made a bit more sense, but I think it will only make about half sense, at least until we figure everything out. Wow, that was a run-on sentence. Talk about Daniel Handler!

vfdrevolution, why do you think that he would write something to stall? It takes alot of energy to write a book. Here's something intersting, in LSUA on page 42, in the V.F.D. meeting, K and J have a conversation.
K: Infiltrated?
J:"Infiltrated" is a word which here means "snuck in without our noticing."
K: I know what the word means. When I said "Infiltrated?" I meant " Do you really think so? That can't be so."
Doesn't that sound an awful lot like Klaus because in The Reptile Room page 13 Uncle Monty and him have a conversation like the one above.
Uncle Monty: Thats quite all right. Questions show an inquistive mind. The word 'inquistive' means--
Klaus: We know what it means. Full of questions."
Final question.
Is Klaus part of the V.F.D.??

There have been other posts about this, but my answer is 'No.' Klaus is too young. K could be refering to the Snicket sister. Why wouldn't Klaus share the stuff about VFD with his sisters? There is too much doubtful information to beleive Klaus is in VFD.

There is too much doubtful information to beleive Klaus is in VFD. But it says in the transcript that R is the vice chanclor and is only nine years old and she worries about the younger neophytes, so that cancels out that Klaus is to young since he is twelve, but I see where you're going with Klaus sharing the information with his sisters.

I heard somewhere that since K could be the snicket sister + baudelaire mom, maybe he got the quote from his parents..........

I played the Little Snicket Lad on the piano and it was to the tune of row row row your boat.

he said in LSUA that "the little snicket lad" was confused with a well'known hymn of naval disaster. He probably meant row row row your boat

It took me a while to get my theories too!!
The book is confusing... I read it in one day and then read it again the next day. I'm reading it again and I'm getting everything!!
Let's see... The Little Snicket Lad is for V.F.D. members to be explained about what will happen so they don't freak out, it just sounds like a song with a great tune. All of the books that Lemony has have to do something with V.F.D. (IE: Beatrice being like Beatrice in Ramona Quimby Age 8, Sir's book being for their green mansions)
Keep working at it!! You'll get it soon enough!!
