Page 123, a letter to Jerome from Jacques.
This letter was apparently written years ago, when the schism took place. Turn to the next page. There's a couplet Jacques found in a village he was hiding near. It was assumably written by Isadora, but if the letter was written at the time of the schism and the poem was written at the time of the letter and the schism took place many years ago, it's most likely not Isa's.

The timeline thing again...so confusing. The letter could have come later, after the schism, but who's to say how long recently is to Jacques? Also, on page 96 Jaques writes "under normal circumstances, new volunteers like ourselves would not receive disguise training until our years of apprenticeship were finished, but we have not been under normal circumstances for quite some time."We (or maybe just I) can derive at least two things from that sentence. One, that Jacques and Lemony haven't finished their apprenticeship, and so are new members of V.F.D. (this could explain why Lemony was stuck with Veiled Facial Disguises). Two, that "normal circumstances" would be not being written about in _The Daily Punctilio_, and not having schisms pop up. If you read page 44 in LSUA they name all (or most) of the headquarters V.F.D., along with the time of when they moved. I think, from the meeting-goers' POV, it's been about one year since they moved from their first Headquarters, and then the schism happened. The letter was probably written either very soon after that, or a while (a few years?) afterwards. The Baudelaires' house-fire probably happened soon after the letter (or schism if you prefer), and the Quagmires' before theirs (right? I'm not sure.), so actually, it COULD have been Isadora's.

In an interview with Lemony I found this that should clear up some things about the time issue: For various personal and legal reasons, I began researching the terrible things that happened to the three Baudelaire children following the death of their parents.Following the death of their parents...which means that he's just one or two steps behind the children. EDIT: Whoops, here's the site address, for reference: www.harpercollins.com/catalog/author_interview_xml.asp?authorid=14581

I agree swans, but after reading the Pg. 96 letter i noticed one thing:
"...For instance, currently, I am under sixty feet of water..."
Could he perhaps be in a grotto? a submarine? Lemony's old (or future, or current) home?
Thats the only thing that struck me.
And good point about the B. If this letter was indeed written after TBB, Beatrice still being alive into THH is completley possible.
