Firstly-on page 49, there is a picture of "snake" hedges and a building off into the distance. Secondly- on page 151, there is a sketch of the Cathedral of the Alleged Virgin. I compared the two, and found their appearences to be similar. I also compared the building to a couple others in England. The page 49 building is similar to Westminster Cathedral and St. Pauls Cathedral, both in England. St. Pauls: www.great-britain.co.uk/towns/london/stpauls.htm Westminster: images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=Westminster+Cathedral&ei=UTF-8&fr=fp-tab-img-t&cop=mss&tab=3"For instance, as I crouch here behind the altar of the Cathedral of the Alleged Virgin, a friend of mine is playing a sonata on the pipe organ, to calm me down and so the sounds of my typewriter will not be heard by the worshipers sitting in the pews" -The hostile hospital. Discuss. Edit: The building on page 49 is actually Carcero Church, Costa Rica. Thread.

Why is she an alleged virgin? You'd think the church would say that she either is a virgin, or isn't. Or maybe it's just amibiguous because if it was the virgin, she had other kids after Jesus, thus making her a virgin no longer. Do we really want to get into this?

I've been wondering about the Cathedral as well.. I was hoping if we found the actual Cathedral then we might be closer to the name of the city. Also p. 49 and 151 of what book? LSUA? Is the Cathedral in the background of the opening picture of TBB? I always assumed that it was. Yes, LSUA. I always thought that it was Veblen Hall, but I compared it just now, and it isn't the hall. Now it is a very good possibility that it is The Cathedral, although on pg. 151 there is no trolly track near the place the cathedral is marked. search.yahoo.com/search?p=Cathedral+of+the+Alleged+Virgin&ei=UTF-8&fr=fp-tab-web-t&cop=mss&tab= Is the results of a search engine. Pester, I think that DH is exercising the use of "alleged" March 31st on the calender: "Alleged date the alleged Baudelaire mansion allegedly burned down" The authors page in TSS is similar, only the word "presumed" is over-used.

Yeah, the name of the church is just a joke on religion, pointing fun at all the catholic churches that are called "The Virgin of--"
