Perhaps zygology reters to Violet's knots.

Why did Ls refer zymurgy to himself?

Zymurgy is famous as the last word in many dictionaries. I don't know what it might mean in connection to Lemony, though. The Z words, I think, were just something Lemony put in for fun to fill out the Z's.

It seems to me that it's a link between Lemony and the Vineyard of Fragrant Drapes...er...Grapes.

There was one Z word that escapes me....it talked about how the grains break down into smaller grains, usually making sugar....I'll have to check it again.

Maybe he worked for the bad side once. He makes alcohol, the arsonists douse the mansion that they're going to burn down with it, and the fire spreads quickly. Then, he saw the error of his ways and went back to the good side. Crazy theory, but anything can happen in his world.

But he described Olaf as such a horrible person-if he were on the bad side as he wrote ASOUE, he would admire and look up to Olaf.
I believe the most obvious thing-they're sworn enemies, and Lemony gets framed for arson and other crimes that Olaf commits.

My theory is that he and Beatrice were together on the bad side. They regretted their choice, and so Beatrice stole the sugarbowl which contained crucial evidence. Beatrice, afraid of the wrath of their former associates, gives the sugarbowl to him and writes him the two hundred page book. Lemony gives the sugarbowl to the good side and Count Olaf goes ballistic and pins his crimes on Lemony. Beatrice, meanwhile, was being courted by a different man. Thinking that no better offer was going to come along, she accepts and dies in a fire when they find out about her betrayal.
Boy, this theory could turn out to be a very weird soap opera.

1. zonation- dominant species could be mushrooms, or the Orphan shack fungus or crabs, or the Finite Forest's branchless trees, although I'm inclined to mushrooms.
2. zoography zo·ol·o·gy 1.The branch of biology that deals with animals and animal life, including the study of the structure, physiology, development, and classification of animals. 2.The characteristics of a particular animal group or category: the zoology of mammals.
Is this a study of VFD to find out the traits of their signature animals? a study on the lions? Eagles?
3. zygology- As noted, could refer to Violet's knots.
4. zymugy- Also as noted, a link to the Vineyard of Fragrent Grapes, or perhaps has to do with Mr. Baudelaire's brandy bottle, or Olaf's favorite wine.
5. zopissa - perhaps an invention that Violet creates, out of Klaus's research skills?
6. zygosity- Having to do with the twins-and-triplet aspect of this series.
Good work, sugarhigh.

Maybe someone gets injured and Violet has to mix zopissa to cure him/her.
It appears that everybody in V.F.D. is pretending to be something else. (i.e. duchess, dramatic critic, etc.) When Lemony was sacked, maybe he went to work as a brewer in the Vineyard of Fragrant Grapes.

5. zopissa - perhaps an invention that Violet creates, out of Klaus's research skills? That's the thing. It said in the index go to Prospero, or something like that, I think. Maybe, if that's right, they were transporting things in medicine to the V.F.D Headquarters....

Check the Sound clip thread in Crisis Concludes for possible uses of zopissa...There is supposed to be a dreadful disease aboard the Submarine...
