I HATE PROBOARDS AND ITS UPDATE. I WROTE NEARLY THE WHOLE FIRST PART, AND FINISHED THE CAST LIST, AND NOW IT'S GONE. GONE! ALL BECAUSE I ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED ANOTHER BUTTON. ARGGGH. Why am I having such a horrid day?
Ahem. Yes. I refuse to write the cast list out again right now. It took a long time, and it included Antenora and Dante as munchkins. I spent about an hour total finishing the rest of the cast list and the first part.
Why, oh why, did I not write it and save it first? Anyway, I'll attempt to post at least some of what I remember.
(Deanna, you can be Uncle Henry. You'll be known as Uncle D.D.)
Part Oneth:
Panothy ran down the dusty dirt path, glancing nervously behind her. Her dog, ToJ, was perched in her basket, poking her nose through an unpatched hole. Turning a corner, Panothy breathed a sigh of relief, and slowed her pace. She laid her basket on the ground briefly to let ToJ out. ToJ nipped excitedly at her heels. Panothy kept on running until she reached the small farm where she lived. This made her feel much safer, although she couldn't feel completely safe knowing that Miss Cel was angry at her.
"Auntie Carma!" she whined, heading over to her aunt, who was tying ribbons onto her hand-woven baskets. "Miss Cell is going to--"
"Panothy, I'm sure Miss Cel isn't going to do anything bad." her aunt replied without looking up.
"But, Auntie Carma!" Panothy cried.
"Panothy, I need to have these baskets ready to sell by tomorrow. I can't help you right now, dear." Panothy scowled. Maybe she wasn't as kind as she should have been to her aunt, but she was still her aunt, after all, and it was her job to help her. She ran over to her uncle, who was repairing a broken length of the pig fence.
"Uncle D.D.," she began, not quite as over-excited as before, "Miss Cel is going to take ToJ to the sheriff, just because she bit off the end of her katana!" ToJ barked at the sound of her name, and bit the air wildly at the word "katana," hoping to sink her sharp teeth into the object.
"Panothy, I think you might just be imagining this," Uncle D.D. said, pulling a banana out of his pocket and beginning to eat it. Panothy frowned, and decided not to waste any more time enlisting help from her uncle.
Instead, she headed towards to barn, where the farm hands were working. When she reached it, however, she realized that they were not really working at all, but arguing.
"You milk the cow," PJ was telling George. George shook his head.
"I can't milk the cow," he insisted. "I don't know it. How can I milk a cow I don't know? You milk it."
"Me? You want
me to get on the
ground and pull that cow's udders? I think not. You do it."
Akbar, meanwhile, was nodding off to sleep when he saw Panothy walk in. He yawned, stretched, and sat up.
"Oh, Panothy," he said. "I hadn't seen you there." He paused, and noticed the strange combination of a frown and a scowl she wore on her face. "Are you upset about something?" he asked.
PJ heard this, and began yelling at Akbar instead of George for a moment. "Upset? How can you care about Panothy's problems when we've got an urgent matter like this on our hands?" He went back to shouting at George. Akbar sighed.
"Now, Panothy, what's wrong?" he inquired.
"Miss Cel is going to take ToJ to the sheriff because he bit her katana!" she cried dramatically. Akbar was about to respond, but was interrupted by Miss Cel, who stormed into the barn without warning. He, along with the still arguing PJ and George, saw this as a sign to leave.
"You!" Miss Cel shouted, pointing a long, bony finger at Panothy. "You and that dog!" Panothy trembled, and backed up unsteadily. "You've ruined my katana! Do you know what that means?" Miss Cel demanded. Panothy shook her head. Miss Cel paused. She had expected Panothy to know what it meant, because she didn't. "It means...It means I have to buy a new one!" she said finally.
"But the one ToJ bit was old, and you said a week ago you'd be getting a new one anyway," Panothy offered. Miss Cel glared at her, and Panothy swore she heard her growling. She stormed out of the barn, calling for Panothy's uncle D.D. He stopped working on the fence, and looked up to see that it was Miss Cel calling his name. He shuddered, and shouted for his wife to come out and join him.
"Oh, Miss Cel," she said, "It's nice to see you."
Miss Cel waved her arm, as though shaking off the gesture. "I've got a serious problem with your niece and her dog," she barked.
"Problem?" D.D. asked, alarmed. "What sort of problem?"
"The bottom of my katana is completely bitten off!" Miss Cel exclaimed.
"Panothy bit off the bottom of your katana?" D.D. gasped.
"No, her dog," Miss Cel replied impatiently.
Carma examined ToJ's tail, and looked up, confused. "No, she didn't," she insisted. "ToJ's bottom is fully intact." Miss Cel rolled her eyes.
"That's it. If that mutt thinks she can destroy my katana, I'm going to destroy her!" ToJ growled, but Miss Cel ignored the sound, and snatched her up into her basket. Carma, D.D., and Panothy gasped in unison.
"You can't!" Panothy cried, but it was too late. Miss Cel was already tying the basket onto the back of her bicycle. Panothy sobbed as the woman climbed onto the bike and began to ride away. She ran into the house, unable to watch.
Panothy fell onto her bed, soaking her pillow with tears. How could they take ToJ away from her? She was the best friend she had ever had. Her sobbing only ceased when she heard a loud noise. She looked outside, and saw that objects were blowing around all over the farm. "What's going on?" she asked aloud. However, all her worries were pushed aside when she noticed Miss Cel's bicycle gliding along the path, and ToJ biting a hole through it. The dog jumped out of the small space, and ran back to the farm, where she leaped throught Panothy's window.
"Oh, ToJ!" she cried, picking her dog up and wrapping it into a hug. ToJ gagged, and gasped for air. Panothy released her, just in time for the increasingly strong wind to blow her window right out of its place, and knock Panothy in the head.
To be continued...
This re-write wasn't as good as the first one, but I tried. Sorry.
