People are getting power at the snap of a finger.
Triangle Eyes. Amanda. J. And now Linda.
In the reign of All Due Respect, all previous rules concerning staff members no longer apply. Now everyone has a chance at power, even the ones Tragedy held a personal grudge against, as J. pointed out. And the new staff seems to be doing a good job. Triangle Eyes and Amanda have considerably cleaned up Gruesome Greetings, and J. has given fresh new ideas to 667 and been responsible for the creation of a new board, titled “Indecent Ideas”, in which members have the chance to voice their own ideas.
But is all this new freedom necessarily good? Whereas in the past moderators were chosen through an application process and only the ones least likely to abuse power or break rules were chosen, it now appears that anyone that asks for a position can get power. A member who wishes to remain anonymous told this reporter that, now, it seems like people just have to go: "Hey, ADR, you're beautiful and smart and a great admin. Can I be the ruler, now?" Though he was probably joking, he makes a valid point. The potential to abuse the system is enormous, and, in the future, staff members may be chosen on the basis of the sugar-coated compliments they give, rather than by skill or dedication.
Besides moderators, All Due Respect has made other changes in the staff as well. Through a suggestion by Libitina, a Detriment Deleter, All Due Respect decided to add another G-Mod. She took the suggestion of Linda to use former 667 Apprentice candidates as nominees, and, through the use of a poll, ended up choosing Linda, with Dupin as a close second. But many people have pointed out that a poll, though good for other decisions, makes for a very poor way to elect a Global Mod.
Songbird has also told members that All Due Respect is considering her as a temporary sub-admin. People have pointed out that a sub-admin is nearly the same as a Global Mod, but neither Songbird nor All Due Respect seem to care. Songbird just assures everyone that she is not power-hungry and that she deserves more appreciation than she’s getting. And while it’s likely that Songbird will do an excellent job, members are asking if it’s right for such an important staff member to be elected this way.
Considering the way All Due Respect was appointed, through a password-guessing contest, is it really surprising that she’s appointing staff in such an unorthodox way?
Even with that in mind, though, the way she conducts business on the forum is quite worrying to many members. Many people who disagree with her have been punished quite severely, with SetnicK and Twistedbrain receiving strikes and Robert getting a ban. On the flip side, those who praise her, or at least agree with her, have been given quite the sugary-coated compliments themselves, being called “the most dutyful[sic] moderator”, “the smartest moderator”, “the BEST moderator (although this particular person was not a moderator)”, etc.
There’s also a downside to the new staff members. Although the new ones are all doing a good job, they’ve replaced moderators that were not informed beforehand, and Trish and SnicketFace are angry, with good reason. SnicketFace, was unable to do her job, but not through any fault of her own; as she said herself, she was grounded. And Trish has no idea why she was replaced, as she has been doing her job all along. And now there’s a dilemma: should Trish and SF be reinstated and the new moderators be gotten rid of? They’ve been doing their jobs well, and just as Trish and SF didn’t deserve to be replaced, neither do the new moderators.
In conclusion, All Due Respect’s choices have done quite a bit of good for the forum, but they have also caused a great deal of contention. It’s natural for a new admin to do things slightly different – after all, she isn’t Tragedy, and has brought her own insights to the position. But she needs to be careful not to disrupt the way things were too violently. And she also needs to beware of the flatterers, the deceivers, and the power-hungry that will undoubtedly come to her for power, if they haven’t already.

OMG. What’s this? A.’s doing the rant? Yes, yes she is. So this might be a little awkward at first. A. doesn’t usually devote time to ranting; she’d prefer all her feelings to boil up inside her than to actually express and confront them. Well, I think it’s just feelings in general that have the tendency to be awkward, although it’s mainly an expression of them that’s the problem, whatever form that should take.
Which takes me to a topic I just decided I’d rant about. Everyone’s already organising ball dates and the Ball isn’t until February. A. hasn’t organised a date yet because it’s silly. Besides, she’d rather subtly flirt and hint. The MSN nickname, ‘Annelise. Is Dateless’, isn’t the least bit suspicious It says exactly what I wanted to without being overbearing. Now it’s a matter of waiting and flirting. I could simply ask the guy I want to go with, but that would be too easy. Besides society is weird about things like that.
Then there are exams, which are overall just not fun. Two weeks to go, but countdowns like that aren’t fun either. I think I’m just complaining about the lack of fun. So I started studying today. My room is littered with books. They’re on my desk, my floor, my bed, and there are even some underneath my desk. Cleaning’s another thing I don’t want to do. Though I’ve often found cleaning a purging experience. I suppose I’m ranting today instead. Say, when is the feeling of catharsis meant to kick in?
ADR flames seem to come in waves; it amuses me somewhat. Like sitting at the beach watching the waves come in. Wow! Did you see how A. just worked that simile in? I haven’t been to the beach since spring break. It’s supposed to be summer soon but today there was a thunderstorm. Thunder still makes me somewhat frightened, though I’m not sure why.
So Akbar begged me to do this article and it’s icky and stuff, I was planning to do a parody but then got too lazy. Akbar showed me pictures from a party he went to. His friends are so cute. I should totally write the article I’ve been meaning to write for ages. I had a couple of ideas, I really should write these things down when they come to me but at these times a pen never seems to be around. Well I guess at the end of this rant I should promise you all that this shall never happen again. Akbar was desperate and A. was the only one around willing to procrastinate from studying to write him an article. I’m sorry.
P.S.: Cleaning still seems more effective, and productive, then ranting.

Tragedy left 667 rather quickly, leaving 667 with a brand new admin, whom many have called new, obnoxious, rude, b*tchy, and a person who uses incorrect grammar, among other things.
As such this is an analysis of all of allduerespect's (Emily's) decisions so far.
- The Appointment of a Member to be Temporary Moderator of The Greetings
I don't feel this was the proper way to go about this. From what I understand, Triangle Eyes merely asked for the position. No applications, no post that applications were even open.
To be democratic, the whole by the people jazz, a better idea, in my opinion, would have been to firstly, announce that a new moderator was needed for The Greetings because of SnicketFace’s absence, and formal applications could then be written. Allowing a friend to take over the forum was not the proper solution.
- The voting for the new Despicable (Detestable) Deputy
Again, applications should have been made. Drawing up a list of members whom you feel would be good for the job, then asking for members to vote for one, was not a good idea. Again, from what I understand, A didn't even want to be on the list. Applications, applications, then vote!
- Rude remarks
Again, Emily wasn't exactly unprovoked in making these remarks. However, one of the things about being an administrator is that you're usually viewed as impartial, above the storm and calm under pressure. Your decision to post will most likely be read and evaluated by the rest of the forum. Emily, as the new head of 667 Dark Avenue, should have been less aggressive in this aspect.
It is my opinion, users of 667, that Emily needs to be given breathing time. As Libitina has said, 667 hasn't gone and exploded because of ADR - things are essentially the same, but this flame war that's going on because of some mistakes ADR made in her first week of Admin-ship surely is not part of the 667 we all know and love.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November…
Admins, Treason, and Plot.
I see no reason why forum treason should ever be forgot.
Oh, and ADR - beware the Ides of March.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
It was raining.
This is the part with the lady.
She walks towards me, umbrella in hand, explaining.
Explaining the ideas of the previous night,
ideas which seemed genius under the influence
but the next day was now, and in control again we are.
I don't know the details, she didn't exactly elaborate,
but it seemed like her eyes were all the details i needed
her mouth, her lips, saying words i didn't need to hear,
but her eyes,
oh her eyes.
The pupils danced in the space between her face and mine
over and over i watched them.
Overcome, i turned around. I had to conentrate.
She was winning, i couldn't let that happen.
She tells me of her cats, we discussed them last night.
A black one and a white one.
When she left the world she didn't know what to do with them.
Apparently i suggested a casserole.
She was wearing the red dress.
The same red dress as last night. still as beautiful as ever,
still flowing as she stood there in the blowing wind
from the open door
still with specks of my vomit, just near the lower hem.
She'd probably wash it later.
She was famous. That's what she'd said.
I didn't beleive her, I had never heard her name, never seen her face
Her eyes were in every picture i looked at for the next week.
We talked, i didn't look at her. I couldn't.
Her eyes were leaving, leaving my mind, leaving the world.
So was the rest of her, but that didn't matter,
I could take or leave the rest of her, just as long as her eyes accompanied it.
We talked. Then she turned and left,
I'd like to say she kissed me goodbye, but that would be wrong.
with one parting word she just turned away from me.
At least i assume so, i wasn't looking at her at the time.
She forgot her umbrella, i hope the the rain drenched the magikarp.

On Saturday, November 04, 2006, Tragedy answered a question in his Q&A thread, explaining why he had let 667 go. The answer is simply that he has no time anymore because he is going to Stanford University. That and, of course, he was tired of getting complaints from certain members.
He first stated that he was only ‘kind of’ leaving 667. He stated “…I haven't really left. I've just become another old member who rarely comes on and hardly posts.” So, guys, don’t get your panties in a twist, because Tragedy isn’t completely gone. He also stated that he would have no time. Completely understandable, considering the fact that college takes a lot of hard work and devotion.
He next talked about how he was getting tired of the complaints he was getting as the admin. He created this entire forum, spent hours upon hours of his time for this forum, and he was being accused of being “lazy”.
He says “Seriously, what do you all know about my life, and what made you think you could question my dedication? You know nothing of dedication. I was here for two years, struggling before we ever reached a hint of solid membership. Then you prance in a few years later with your ideals and your sarcasm and your claims that Tragedy does nothing for 667.”
Looking back, there sure were a lot of people complaining about Tragedy…
Tragedy said that, after a while, he just stopped trying to please everyone, which just made the complaints continue. He then decided to appoint a new administrator.
“I made 60023101 and took a risk.”, he declared.
He solemnly added “ADR is your administrator now, and in a few weeks you won't even remember that things were different. After all, weren't you guyzzzzzz always adamant about how it was the members that make 667 what it is?”
I would just like to say: Tragedy, although we have a new administrator, we will never forget you. Whether you leave completely or stay and check up on us every once and a while, you will always be in our heads. There are so many that have shared fond memories with you. There are those who just joined but will still hear about the founder of 667 Dark Avenue. The best of luck to you, Tragedy the Founder.

Hi all,
I’m really, really tired, so this is going to be short and to-the-point.
Let ADR breathe, for Chrissakes. Anyone suddenly placed in a position of power will be nervous, insecure, and not know what to do. On the other hand, she needs to learn to just say ‘no.’ to sycophants and their power-hungry ideas.
Trag had a mageefit. D:
Trag, we all love you, I’m sorry if you ever got offended by The 667er, the mag loves you too. <33
Aaaand I’m done. (:
Peace out,
Akbar.
