THE EVENTS.
On December 12th, PJ made a thread, announcing that he’d noticed that ‘someone’ had made Disturbing Discussion, the board using for serious, intellectual discussions about serious issues, a sub-board of the notably frivolous Menacing Miscellaneous.
Dante appeared soon, with an impassioned argument for his beloved board, pointing out that:
MMisc is explicitly not a place for serious or disturbing discussion, and the board's always been kept separate to reflect the fact that the discussion style and contents there is more mature.
However, BSam, known for his support of most of ADR’s changes came around to defend her.
It wasn’t long till the bumbling admin turned up, hoping that no-one minded the “minor change”. Of course they didn’t; why else would they have made a thread about it, or written 12 line speeches defending it? PJ resigned himself to the facts, and BSam and A commenced bickering. Antenora, moderator of DDisc arrived, calmly, in her style, trying to explain the problem to ADR. Not surprisingly, she was ignored.
The thread degenerated into an off-topic, if heartwarming, BSam-A lovefest. Shruti arrived and, shockingly, said:
I see no problem with it being under MMisc. I think it's quite well suited there...
THE ISSUES.
The basic issue here is that the very description of Menacing Miscellaneous marks it as a place for chitchat, banter, entertainment, say DDisc supporters. Not debate, discussion and speeches. To place a board made only for the purpose of informed debate as a sub-board of it is utterly irrational, and demeaning to both, they claim. As Antenora says, they also have a problem with ADR claiming it is ‘offensive’; she states:
I think DD's section description nicely covers that, and plus I try to delete the posts that are just offensive with no actual content.
The other side, however, say that a huge fuss is being made about nothing; they see no problem with it, so why create drama? They reckon that, as it long as it’s still there, moving it to subboard status is simply a non-issue. After all, they say, MM is for discussion of all types; both serious and non. Says prominent member SetnicK:
It's just ... it's not a big deal, you know? So I don't see why people need to get all up in arms about it.
Meanwhile, ADR’s disappeared on holiday.
CONCLUSION.
Until the reasonings of both sides are properly explained, and a general consensus is reached, it seems unlikely that the issue will be resolved in a way in which everyone is satisfied. In private discussions with this reporter, some members who do not post very much anymore have expressing a lingering bitterness about the whole problem. But a bitter 667 is not a united 667, and if we are not united, we are nothing. Let the resolution begin as soon as ADR returns, lest 667 factions fragment, and serious discussion forsaken, even more.

[Part One – 16/12/06.]
So I'm sitting here listening to Breaking Benjamin's Diary of Jane, reading A.'s rant, and decided that I would write one. I have enough teen angst lately to get through one rant anyways, so why the heck not?
The first issue, I mentioned in Alice's letter thread.
Just trying to sort out what I believe, and what I'm expected to believe.
As I'm writing this, my stomach is growling. Thanks to my mother, who mistakenly thought I was working tonight, I haven't eaten dinner yet. After informing her I wasn't working, she told me she and my brother were going to a party and my dad was working late, and that I was expected to find something to eat for dinner. Everyone in my house (with the exception of my mother) knows that there isn't anything in this house substantial to eat. At least nothing that a 16 year old girl is willing to make. After discussing my hunger with Gigi, I decided I'm craving cheese and pepperoni, Taco Bell, and veal parmesan. Which reminds me, I had lasagna in the fridge from when I went out to eat, and it's gone now. Undoubtedly eaten by someone else in my family. Dirty scoundrels.
A friend of mine had someone's iPod the other day, and I was looking through the music, and I was disgusted to find that all the songs were singles that bands had released. None of the other songs on the CD, which in some cases are better than the single. Just what they saw on MTV lately, and decided they liked. How unoriginal and cliché. Buy a CD or two, search for other bands. Do something people!
[Part Two – 22/12/06.]
The other day my mother ordered me to clean out my room. Meaning get a huge garbage bag and clean out whatever I don't want or don't use anymore. This in itself was pretty awful, but I thought that during the process I would find my digital camera. I didn't, it's still lost somewhere in this black hole of a house I live in. I had lent it to my older brother a few times, so he could possible have it, even though he swears he gave it back to me. It really makes me angry when I think about it, and I'll go looking for it, and then just get too fed up to even think about it anymore. Maybe I should save up to get a nice one. I didn't like my old one too much anyways.
Peace, love and GAP,
SF.

This week, we interviewed SnicketFires, one of the moderators of Burdensome Books.
The 667er: Welcome, SnicketFires. How do you do?
SnicketFires: I'm well thank you, how do you do?
The 667er: Well as well, thanks. What is your opinion of 667 lately?
SnicketFires: My opinion of it has deteriorated since ADR became admin.
The 667er: Mhm. What do you miss most about the old 667?
SnicketFires: How much more close-knit everyone was, and how almost all of the sections were active. Now there are many sections that are dead or dying. Since a lot of the old members have left, there's not such a big sense of community.
The 667er: Yes, that sums up what's happened very well. Have you considered joining any other forums, perhaps unrelated to 667?
SnicketFires: I have joined one recently; it's one for people I met on a recent trip to keep in touch.
The 667er: If you were the admin of 667, what would do?
SnicketFires: I wouldn't want to be the admin of 667, honestly. It's too much responsibility.
The 667er: I respect that you realize that, not that you wouldn't make a good admin. What do you like to do in your spare time?
SnicketFires: Read, listen to music, internet. Oh, and watch movies.
The 667er: What was it like to meet Daniel Handler?
SnicketFires: Pure sex. He's a really nice person and is a great performer. And he seems to really care about his fans.
The 667er: Haha. That's good. Insincere people are awful. What is something interesting about you that nobody at 667 knows?
SnicketFires: I like how the something about me has to be interesting.
The 667er: (:
SnicketFires: Well...could it be something that very few people know?
The 667er: Chure.
SnicketFires: I resigned as a moderator last Thursday.
The 667er: Oh, dear! Why did you do that?
SnicketFires: Personal reasons, and mostly because school has become very time-consuming.
The 667er: That's very unfortunate. You were a great moderator, you really contributed a lot, even if certain people (the admin, ahem) failed to realize that. Will they replace you?
SnicketFires: I don't know, because I'm not sure if ADR has realized I've resigned yet.
The 667er: *headslap* Well, we will certainly be sad to see you resign. Best of luck with school and whatever you choose to do in the future. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
SnicketFires: I'd give everyone better grammar skills. And make everyone recycle.
The 667er: Do you have any secret! plans to take over the world?
SnicketFires: Only to influence people of importance.
The 667er: I think that you'd do really well with secret! evil plots. You're that type that no one would ever suspect. If you could have tea with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose?
SnicketFires: I would choose Daniel Handler or Stephin Merritt, because I admire both of them immensely. I'd want to have tea with them as equals, though, and not just some random fangirl. Is it cheating because I've already had doughnuts and refreshments with Handler?
The 667er: Not cheating at all. That's pretty fortunate. Have you ever realized that the word "continuum" has two u's? On that note, have you ever determined whether you need an apostrophe when mentioning more than one letter of the alphabet?
SnicketFires: Sorry? Could you give an example?
The 667er: "Have you ever realized the word 'continuum' has two u's?"
SnicketFires: Yes, I have.
The 667er: No, that's the example. I'm not very good at explaining things. Let's move on. What's your favourite thing to do for Christmas?
SnicketFires: Either set up the little ceramic village or watch the movie It's a Wonderful Life.
The 667er: Those both sound fun. Do you say "Merry/happy Christmas" or "Happy holidays"?
SnicketFires: "Merry Christmas" (Oh, I get the apostrophe thing now.)
The 667er: Yay. Also, "Merry Christmas" is good. I think that the phrase "Happy holidays" is pretty bad because it's like subliminally denying the existence of individual holidays, paving the road to communism. Do you like communism?
SnicketFires: I'm not a communist, but I wouldn't have communist witch-hunts or anything.
The 667er: XD Witch hunts are awful, yes. Would you ever hunt Elphaba?
SnicketFires: No! She's extremely horrorshow, and much more interesting than Glinda.
The 667er: Thank goodness! You're a pretty amazing person. Is there anything else you'd like to say to the general public of 667?
SnicketFires: So long and thanks for all the fish. (I'm terrible at originality, I steal from everything.)
The 667er: Aw, haha. Thank you very much for joining us.
SnicketFires: You're welcome.

J reviews the new musical by Alice that’s taking Chaotic Creativity by storm: What Child is This?
What's better than Arrested Development, The Office US, The Office UK, Scrubs, Catcher in the Rye, Avenue Q, RENT, Rocky Horror, Assassins, assassins, politislash, and drug-inspired children's literature put together? The answer is Alice and her writing. Alice is not only the best writer on 667, she's the best writer in the world, and she's proven that once again with her musical.
What Child is This is beyond perfect. To try to describe how absolutely perfect it is would be an injustice, unless the person describing how awesome it is is Alice. I've tried, but I can't. This isn't so much a review as an endorsement. Read What Child is This. It'll blow your mind. Alice is amazing. And it has a special long introduction from the author. Why is that so special? Well...
"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though. "
OK, I've been creepy with Alice and her writing. My Beatrice Letters-inspired confessions of love might be the reason why your teachers tell you not to give out your name on the internet. But I can't stress enough how much I love Alice's writing, and what a privilege it is to be able to tell her that.

To all of 667 (reading this):
Whoami is back with three more clues. At the moment, I am supposed to be doing an English project on the Vietnam war, but that is another story. I am sorry I have not been on of late, but our computer has been evil at my mom's house, and I have that crazy English project. And we had a chorus concert. Chorus is my life. Except for the fact my teacher was in a car accident and we've had a not-so-great sub.
Clue 1. I am an optimist. I always try to think on the positive side of things.
Clue 2 will be pictorial.
This is Twilight Timmy the gerb.
^. .^
> ' <
Clue 3. I used to attend school with a former 667er, who invited me to the site.
Clue 4 (an extra) I've been at 667 for quite a while (I've had my two year anniversary this year).
Clue 5 (another extra to make up for the past two weeks)
I prefer the books on tape to the actual ASOUE books.
I have also added other clues in my opening paragraph, so read it carefully. These might really give me away.
At least the person I'm secret-santa-ing doesn't know who I am.

Hi all.
First off, I hope my lede doesn’t seem biased and stuff. If it does, feel free to magee incessantly.
Anyway, more drama. Well, I’m too tired to write about it. ADR is illiterate and sucks ass, nothing we can do about it. Actually, we can protest, which I hope we can all band together and do when she comes back. W00. Oh, and Kelsea's resigned.)'''''''': She was a great mod; we'll miss you, SnicketFires.
It’s Christmas Eve, so all you Christians must be going all insanely happy, yzay. Well, good on you. Hope you all have a great Christmas, and all the Jewish people (Jon’s, as my dear e-wife would say) have a great Hanukkah. And happy holidays to all the rest of us!
Yours,
Akbar.
PS: I am so sorry about last week; my computer died, and now I have to label all the restored files, which is a major headache. ):
