The little folks get to vote so they feel big and important, even though they're not. Then the electoral college votes. And....that's the most I know. C: You can get a pretty good view of American education by J's explanation on voting. Here's he good ol' butterfly ballot.

M: People vote, but it doesn't matter at ALL, because representatives of the state get to choose the president. Like...it's the senators+congressmen, I think... Endy: Each state gets to regulate their voting, so it's different in each one. In NY, we have a box, and you pull a lever... M: Er...yeah. Voting. Endy: Parties: Democrat=liberal. (For health care, abortion and (well, actually not against, they're not for) gay marriage.) Republican=Conservative. (War-mongers, against people's rights...though this is a slightly biased description)
Dunno about the minor parties, though, except that Nader is completely and utterly insane.

I honestly don't know what I'm more excited to find out about-- the U.S. President results, or if Arlington approved to be the home of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. I personally hope Arlinton doesn't pass the issue, and Irving then turns it down as well. Not that anyone cares about Dallas issues.. Oooh, oooh! I care! Arlington?! What?! I had no idea they were even moving stadium! Gah, I must watch the local news more...or at least go to more home games.

I decided to avoid the wait, and I voted early on Friday. The ballots were on a computer, and you were given the option to vote a straight democrat or republican ticket, or decide each option thing on your own. If you voted a straight ticket you were allowed to review the system to ensure the votes were correct, and you were allowed to make amendments if necessary. Everything was clearly lined up.. For example it listed Democrat-- John Kerry, Edwards --- then it had a box to click. I also had other city issues to vote on, and one of the issues was a retirement fund for Dallas city council. The issue had a page long description, and everything was clearly explained. We also had the option to vote for uncontested candidates, and once the ballot was completely filled out a red button flashed, and once you clicked that button your vote was cast. So basically it was like operating an ATM machine-- fairly simple. I honestly don't know what I'm more excited to find out about-- the U.S. President results, or if Arlington approved to be the home of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. I personally hope Arlinton doesn't pass the issue, and Irving then turns it down as well. Not that anyone cares about Dallas issues.. were you worried aboutt he lack of evidence on paper?

No, this system has been used before and paper ballots can be lost/destroyed as well. Pretty much the entire world has gone from paper systems to computer systems so it isn't like this is unheard of. we havn't, i like going to the schools and community centres and unrolling my massive ballot paper but that is a good point...what evidence there is can easily be destroyed anyway, when dealing with a system that big you need to have faith...
