Money, dammit.
Money can buy fame. Look at Paris Hilton. She's not famous for her looks, her "acting", or her *ahem* autobiography.
...Though, the sex tape probably helped. But, still...the only reason that was so popular was because she was a rich person having sex with another rich person.

It completely depends. I would love to be famous for spreading Christianity, or helping people, or being a famous psychologist, or something like that. I would love to be remembered for changing the world. But I wouldn't want to be the kind of famous person who only has their temporary looks and fickle fans to their name. And I like nice things. So it's a toss up.
