Someone "made" a trailer for the hobbit, but are they really making the movie? Where did you hear that?

From Sir Ian McKellan, that's freaking who McKellan appeared yesterday on the UK's Richard &Judy chat show where he was asked about the persisting rumours that New Line is planning to go ahead with the prequel to the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy now its finally over. McKellan seemed more upbeat and forthcoming than expected: "There is currently a situation where two companies own the rights, but when that's sorted out Peter (Jackson) and I will sit and talk it over. We've mentioned it recently and Peter is looking forward to getting it into production...It won't be long until I have to put on that blue hat again and become Gandalf - Gandalf The Grey that is!". The actor joked about his Gandalf the White being "a stick in the mud"

that's not the real movie poster. There will not be a movie til 2008 if it happens at all. Two companies owns the rights, as well as Jackson filming King Kong next.

I may be crazy but I thought there *was* a Hobbit movie. I mean not a Peter Jackson movie or with Ian in it but I thought there was one a while before LOTR. I dunno, I'm crazy. I'd like to see a movie made for The Hobbit. Maybe I wouldn't have to read the book then.

Well from what Kobolos posted up there, I think they might be trying to make the movie. I couldn't get through the book. I think last time I tried I was enjoying it but then i just stopped reading it. hmm, I'll have to look for it.

There was a really crappy animated movie... There needs to be a live-action one.

It was *supposed* to come out december 17 2006.
Ya, the animated version is SO crappy. I own it, and brought it in when my english class did the Hobbit. They were all like: That sucked! I never said it was good.

I remember seeing the cartoon movie many years ago, and I thought it was good. But then, I suspect my teacher, who read it to us, might have abridged the book, because I don't remember hearing all the songs and stuff that are in it. Peter Jackson is hoping to make a movie of The Hobbit after King Kong, so they are at least trying to do it. I read this in either Newsweek or Premiere, or possibly both.
