I don't know when or where I'm going to get it yet, but I don't feel any pressing urgency.

Yeah, I'm guessing it'll be out for a while.

According to Amazon.co.uk, THH and TCC are set for July; I would then guess at TSS and TGG in October, TPP and TE December? Or thereabouts. We're getting them earlier than I thought; listings for TSS and TGG have just gone up on Amazon, with a release date of August. Edit: Oh, and I've ordered TWW.

I have the new Egmont paperback TWW. Spoiler: They screwed it up. They left out the UE.com plug and, more importantly, the author/illustrator bios. Not a huge mistake, but it matters to us!

Shame. I wonder if they'll spot the mistake and put them in a reprint.

Or maybe they'll repeat the mistake in the later books. Not too long until the next four release in March.

In which case, it wouldn't actually be a mistake. I can't see why they'd take it out intentionally, though; except maybe to save paper.

We have dates for Lemony Snicket's picture book 13 Words, illustrated by Maira Kalman. It's set to be released on October 5th, according to Amazon, and has forty pages. Curiously, Amazon lists two different editions - a hardcover edition for ages 4-8 at $16.99, and a library binding edition for young adults at $17.89. Make of this what you will. www.amazon.com/dp/0061664650/www.amazon.com/dp/0061664669

Assuming that it's not just weird listing choices by Amazon - which is what I'm guessing - then I would imagine that maybe there's an infants' version with lots of pictures, and then a version that has a whole lot more text for older kids. Actually, it reminds me of how Handler and Kalman are also doing a young adult novel for 2011, but I'm told that that's completely different to 13 Words.

julia3160 has linked to an interview in which Daniel Handler confirms he's finally finished his pirate novel! He says it's suspected it'll come out sometime this year, so let's keep an eye out for that. Edit: Egmont's TPP paperback listed for a 6th September release. Maybe The End will be released in October - exactly three years after its original publication? Also, I forgot to order TMM through TVV, but I'll get them sometime.

Four years, surely?
And great news about the pirate novel. Very much looking forward to that.

I lose track. It's hard enough to believe it's been three years.

Reading the pirate novel should be interesting, seeing as he's worked on it for... what's it been? Ten years, right?

He's made references in the past to having done work on it in 1999, so it's at least ten years old - probably eleven by the time it actually comes out. At least, I'm pretty sure that was the pirate novel. I assume that it's just never been near enough to the top of his priorities list.
