Most Unfortunate goes to a member who exhibits the most devotion to Lemony Snicket in any given year. Obviously, it would be somewhat self-defeating to remove that award from the list.

countess and Sorha: Thank you both for your lovely compliments! I think the idea of having thirteen awards should be kept, just in keeping with the ASoUE tradition. Right. "Thirteen" is an important symbol of ASoUE. As Lemona said in her post, we'd just be dropping some categories and adding others. Most Unfortunate goes to a member who exhibits the most devotion to Lemony Snicket in any given year. Obviously, it would be somewhat self-defeating to remove that award from the list. It would be, and it's always been such an exciting award besides. I expect that's why it's always presented at the end of the ceremony. It would be a horrible shame to get rid of it.

Perhaps it would help if we removed the rule that the thread has to have been started in the past year - then we could vote for one of the popular games, or for 'Odd ASOUE/Real-life Coincidence Thread', which are some of the most active parts of the site. It may just be my personal opinion, but I've always assumed that, as long as the thread has been posted in within the past year, then it still counts. Well, the rule says 'started this year', and I've always felt bound by it - otherwise I would have nominated OARLCT, which, apart from the fanfic and Snicketological posts, is my favourite thing on the site. So I think the should be a change to the rule. So, it seems - we have one definite suggestion for a new award, best signature/avatar/whatever. - we have people here who are happy to be seen as notorious, so we shouldn't drop that one. - the one there seems least enthusiasm for keeping is Most Improved - there is also a proposal, which I like, to change the title of Most Consistent to Most Active (with the understanding that this isn't just a statistical thing, but means the person who has impressed us most by their activity - is that what you had in mind, Sherry Ann?).

So I think the should be a change to the rule. Well, I know there have been changes made to rules in the past (the most recent being the height and width limit of images in people's signatures). As long as everyone else agrees, I see no reason why we shouldn't make it so older threads can be nominated. (Just to clarify, that is what you meant, right, Hermes?) Yes, this one does look like it's going to be a keeper. I guess we can go ahead and sacrifice Most Improved since, as you said, it doesn't seem to be all that popular. Unless anyone else feels there's another category we can stand to lose? Oh, no. This one is most definitely not going anywhere. I agree. "Most Consistent" does seem a little vague, so changing it to "Most Active" is a very good idea. Do you think it would require a brief description, or does the alteration make it literal enough?

I think the 13 original categories are fine, but if anyone wants to add/ remove some, whatever floats your boat.

Best Pairing is another award whose validity I'd consider if anther good idea comes up. I've been baffled by some of the nominations in the past. But are we putting Most Improved vs. Best Profile Decoration (or whatever you'd like to name it) to a vote?
The new title, which is indeed what I had in mind, would be a bit more self-explanatory, I think. That is to say, it wouldn't require anymore than the usual description; something brief to include what Hermes mentioned about the quality of the posts as well as the frequency with which they're posted.

Most of last year's nominations made sense, I think. One of the winning three, perhaps, didn't, quite, exactly, but you can never stop joke nominations in any category. . As long as everyone else agrees, I see no reason why we shouldn't make it so older threads can be nominated. (Just to clarify, that is what you meant, right, Hermes?) Yes, that's what I meant.

I agree with Sherry Ann, I don't quite see the point to Best Pairing. Seems a bit pointless.

All right. If no one has any objections, I could try my hand at coming up with a description, then post it here for you guys to okay and/or give suggestions on how to improve it. If there is to be a vote on a new category, I'd like to make the poll on Friday (4-20), but we still have time until then to decide. I've got to go with Hermes on the subject of Best Pairing. It's always been one of my favorite categories, so I'd be a bit sad to see it go. The only pairing I was ever confused by who won was Tragedy and Beyonce, at last year's awards. There was also that year where Sixteen and a sheep were nominated.

I hope tragedy let Beyonce know the good news.

I'll admit those were the two pairs at the front of my mind when I mentioned bafflement. Well, if people have a strong attachment to it ...

I second BSams suggestion for best beard, and will get to work on growing one ASAP.

Hey, guys. I don't mean to sound pushy, but I know that May is the Moderator Games, and June is the anniversary. Since April is Darkies month, everything needs to be completed by May 1st, including the ceremony. I'll admit I didn't think things through as carefully as I should have, or thought I did, when I first proposed this idea. I should have started organizing things much sooner than I did. I am so sorry for that, and to anyone I've disappointed.
Anyway, I'd like to make the nominations threads later this evening, or possibly this afternoon, to save as much time as possible. Just to clarify, most people have agreed to the new award being Best Profile Decoration, while excluding Most Improved, correct?
