Isn't that the British edition of Horseradish? I own that one, it was in poundland a few years ago. You go into poundland looking for a packet of crisps and come out with two deck chairs, a pocket torch and some cat food.

They're the Egmont paperback versions of ASOUE. A few of the books came with trading cards, apparently, which you can read about around here in Upcoming Books.

Ah right so they're reprints in the UK with trading cards. Never seen them in the shops here before.

You haven't? I've seen them quite frequently, and in libraries too, although never with the trading cards.

Dante, that's a very impressive collection. It's more than "some books", though. What's the book on the left of TBL on the top shelf? I can just make out the name "Lemony Snicket."

The trading cards were a Waterstones exclusive, as I recall it. I had to head into town and buy them specially. They weren't very good, though; just a sheet of card in the back of the book that you had to clumsily cut out yourself. Still, it's the thought that counts. Kensicle, the book to the left of the top-shelf TBL is the original U.K. edition of the U.A.

Dante! That's very impressive. Much more interesting-looking than my shelves. Kensicle, the book to the left of the top-shelf TBL is the original U.K. edition of the U.A. No, Kensicle, I think he's trying to water-down his collecting abilities so the rest of us don't feel bad. It's really the Cambridge edition with imitation woodcuts, I believe.

How considerate of him, and what sharp observation, Lemona! Ah well, we already know that he's the Snicketstuff collector to end all other Snicketstuff collectors, so there's no need for him to downplay that.

The image isn't displaying properly - but yes, that's the one. Spoilers guys, I am not all that great of a collector! I'm good at collecting the books, but in terms of promotional items I have comparatively few.

It's because Britain doesn't get promotional items often. Being a British Snicket fan is hard.
Even though I've pre-order ATWQ, I'll still probably take the trouble of going out to town, and seeing Waterstones has any merchandise. It's unlikely, though.

Yeah, being a British Snicket is hard. He hasn't even visited London for a book tour, and he's visited cities in the US countless times. For promotional items, an American buddy would be a huge asset.

Actually, Handler was in Britain in January of some year ... yes, here's the thread. He was touring the U.K.
