If you accidentally encountered someone famous, say, down your street or at your local shopping centre, what would you do? I know the poll options are kind of random, but you can only have 8 options.

If it were a celebrity I didn't like I would just take a picture on my phone for bragging rights. If it were a celebrity I did like I would approach them in a friendly manner and ask them to sign my shoes. XD

For the purposes of the poll, let's say it's someone you like and admire. Like Daniel Handler.

If it was someone I didn't admire I wouldn't bother- but if it was Daniel Handler, I would probably gawp and be overcome by shyness.

If it was Daniel Handler, I'd shyly aproach him and ask for an autograph and a photo. In the meantime I'd make short comments like "I'm a huge fan" or "aSoUE is one of my favourite series".

And I'd hug him, and mention 667, probably.

I answered "Why the heck s/he is here, anyway?" I live in the middle of dairy land.

Been there, done that. I ran into Alice Cooper on the street with his family once, and my eyes got really big and wide, but I didn't approach him, since he was with his family and I didn't want to bug him. I also sat next to James MacArthur (who played Danno on Hawaii Five-O) on a plane once when I was young, and the other day, Bob Rae (Leader of the Canadian Liberal Party, so a political celebrity) approached my work and shook my hand. I think if I ran into a celebrity I really adore, like Benedict Cumberbatch or Simon Herzog, I'd get kind of speechless and just hand them something to autograph...

I selected the gawping option. In the instance of of DH, my mind would be running with one of these two sentences: 1) What in the world is he doing in Australia? (I find it highly unlikely that he'd come here) or 2) Ouch... my poor ears... and head... and nose... and jaw. (Only if I was in the US - my nasal tubes hate flying).

.................................. *fangirlish shriek* I have a HUGE crush on him in Swiss Family Robinson!!! Look at that body! *faint* Is it weird that I'm jealous of SAND? Anyway, getting back on topic...When I was fifteen, I encountered the lovely Michael Palin at a booksigning, but I was too shy to talk to him. I still have the book he signed. I also had a brief encounter with Stephin Merritt, my own personal god, at the London premiere of Strange Powers. That was pretty surreal. First I saw him in the cafe, and I did this awkward little wave at him. He noticed and raised this half-smile. And then during the Q &A portion of the evening I asked a question. Also, on the same night, I rubbed elbows with the gorgeous Will Sharpe. He had a beard that night and didn't look as he was when on TV, which was a disappointment.

Nom, I mean, LG, you're like a celebrity magnet. Or do famous people just like to hang around your area? The only remotely famous person I've met seen is Laura Giddings, the Premier of Tasmania, and that wasn't exactly an accidental encounter. As for DH, I'll pretty much do what Lemona would do, except I'd also pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

I lived in an area with a lot of celebrity vacation houses once, and my father was a real estate broker, so he sold houses to a few celebrities, like Richard Pryor and George Harrison, neither of whom I met and remembered, although I have a picture of me as a baby with George. I also have run into Pierce Brosnan, Willie Nelson, Kelsey Grammer, and Barack Obama, but that wasn't more than a passing glance. Yesterday, I shook Thomas Mulcair's hand. He's the leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada, so I've shaken hands with two party leaders in one week now. I may have to go to Elizabeth May's office (She's the head of the Green Party and my local MP) and shake her hand, just to add to it. I don't think I'll ever meet the head of the Conservative Party, which is a good thing, because if I did, then I would probably not be able to fight the urge to try to break his fingers while shaking his hand...
