I always think, reading the free four chapter review, that it happened in the Great Depression. Probably it was Seth's illustrations, because I think ASOUE happens in the early Edwardian period.
What do you think?

I agree on ATWQ being set in the late 20s/early 30s/the Great Depression, especially since Seth's entire body of work as of now is set in that period. But just like ASoUE it is a setting in a slightly different universe, where things from earlier or later time periods appear as well. (Also, I've actually got a thread coming up that, once again, concerns the setting of ASoUE, which fits with this ATWQ setting nicely...)
