Hi, please excuse me if I mess this up as I am new haha. I was looking all over trying to find an answer to a question that has been bugging me, in the photo of all the Prospero sailors where Snicket's face has been scratched out, who is the man in the background standing in the doorway? (it isn't very good quality in this image, but it's clear in the book) They are also in a sailors uniform and there is no name mentioned. I think there is also something in the autobiography about things in the background of photos but I cannot find it right now. I attached the photo anyway (i think i did it right anyway, haha) Any ideas? Attachments:

I assume you mean this? I always thought that was a reflection in a window behind the sailors. The frame is set into the brick wall, like a window frame, and if you look farther to the right there is another frame. I see two reflections of the two sailors in front of the window. If you notice, the figures in the window are less solid / more hazy than the regular sailors, much smaller than the regular sailors, and don't appear to have faces, all of which fit as a reflection of the back of someone's head. The reflections are to the left of their respective sailors because the camera position is not parallel with the wall.

Great analysis, Q.R.V. Attention to detail is indeed one of the themes in the UA, so I wouldn't be surprised if the apparent deception was intentional.

It's probably just a reflection, yeah. Or maybe we just spotted the Slenderman. ;D
