Aw, thanks Snicket. But I'm already a moderator so perhaps I shouldn't take on this spam-stopping job as well.
If it helps any, I'm in Pacific Standard Time. Then again, I'm online at some very strange hours(5 AM, for instance, and almost never in the evening).
And we also need a good definition of "spam", which I can't think of right now.

Spam- Def 1. A type of food that is rarely enjoyed. Def 2. Testing People (Annoying them). Def 3. Unwanted Junk. Def 4. Noobish Writing. Def 5. Stalkers who want to kill you.
Example of Def 1: "Spam, Spam, SPAMALOT!"-Monty Python's Spamalot. Example of Def 2: "Yo, Yo, Yo. Poser Mobile got pre-paid minuets yo!"-Poser Commercial Example of Def 3: "Sorry to bother you again. This is our last offer. This is out last offer. This is our last offer. I am in Africa and am selling pills to fight our revolution."- Many e-mails. Example of Def 4: Soccergirl101 says "OMG OOMG OGMGDGFDOGAI GTG sOrIeS tO hhaVe bother youse"-A lot of sources for this. Example of Def 5: "Hullo Zeba Neigba!"- Stephan Patis

I like your definitions, Snicket. I just posted to show my support for this organization. Any hope we'll get it started soon?
( I'm 4 hours ahead of GMT time, if it helps any.)

i don't aprticularly like them as half are inaccurate and the other half poorly defined with vague definitions and examples given

BSam is, unfortunately, correct. While Snicket's definitions might be suitable for a dictionary, they aren't here.
I don't feel in the mood to write a definition myself right now, but if I did, it would probably include words and phrases like "unhelpful" "nonsensical" and "designed to irritate excessively."

"Nonsensical" seems like a good place to start when definining spam. "Unhelpful" might be a bit too vague, though.
Here's a sort of bare-bones definition: messages that are complete nonsense or blatantly offtopic, or clearly designed to irritate.

Seems good. The problem with spam is that some things might be spam in one context, but not another. You could leave the specifics up to the moderator's discretion, though.

I think leaving it up to the moderators the best course of action. One person's "spam" is another person's "permissable digression".

I like spam! (The lunch meat, that is.) I think it's tasty!

I posted those definitions a long time ago. I just re-posted them. I do think Spam-Stoppers is a great idea (After all, I had the same idea as PJ and nobody liked it). This could be used in MM a lot. I like Trish's idea of temporary moderators. I stand by this idea. Antenora, I like your definition. I just typed mine in a hurry. I don't see how a person could not like to write a definition to something. I guess I am the only one who does that.

This seems like an excellent idea; I like Antenora's definition. A lot of it, however, would really be up to the spam-stopper's discretion.
And thanks, sdfjhg, for that excellent example...

I agree with the two above me. I also like Antenora's definition
I'd define spam as Stupid, Pointless, Annoying, Messages. Or something like that, though one person could think that means something different to what someone else thinks it means.
Hmm.
